Oh, the Audacity!

Audacity is a willingness to take bold risks. And it’s often used in a negative context: “she had the audacity to…” or “he had the audacity to…”

Being in Christ requires audacity! We have to stand against what we see and what the world says to believe in Someone we do not see. We have to stand on promises that has yet to manifest. We have to trust in the Word of God-oh, the audacity! It is all starts with a mustard seed:

Your willingness to take bold risks start out with a small seed. Faith requires audacity! Do you have the audacity to believe? Do you have the audacity to love that family member everyone has wrote off? Do you have the audacity to go for that goal?

Let them say: She had the audacity to write that book! She had the audacity to ask for healing for an incurable disease! She had the audacity to start that podcast! She had the audacity to preach the Gospel!

Take your mustard seed of faith, our sister, stand the face of fear and declare that YES-You have the audacity! You will love your enemy and do good to those who hate you because God said so, you will intercede for the lost, you will believe that God can and will move mountains and you will trust in the Lord God Almighty!

Progress…

Not perfection.

Every step you take matters. Every move you make gets you one step closer. Every step is progress.

Press on, sister! You will accomplish that goal! Progress is the goal! Every hair does not have to be perfectly in place. Every step does not have to be elegant. You may have to sweat a little. There may be tears. The mascara may run and the lipstick may get smeared but progress should be the goal, never perfection.

You are still graceful. You are still beautiful. Every stumble is an opportunity to get back up again. Every fall, every weakness reminds us to depend on the Savior. No matter how hard we try, we won’t reach perfection because it’s already been achieved! Our Savior is the perfect model. He is the perfect person and nothing compares to Him.

Keep on walking, you are making progress! Press on towards that mark!

Instead of trying to reach some false perception of perfection, may this be our heart and our goal:

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭3:14‬

The Time Is Now!

The time is now! No more waiting, no more “I’ll do it when…”-now is the time for the launch!

We are all about waiting for the perfect time, the perfect moment. I have you ever heard yourself saying, “it’s not the right time”, and you wait-and you wait a little longer-and before you know it-it never happens?

Our sister, it is time for you to move. Get that degree, start the business, preach the Word, set that routine! You can do it, you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you! In Christ you have all you need to accomplish that goal! It starts with one step. It starts by opening that notebook and mapping out that business plan. It starts with putting that $5 into that savings account. It start with movement and just a little faith.

Your adversary wants you to say that it’s not the right time. He wants you to wait so that he can plant a seed of distraction, a seed of delay-he wants you to wait and get even more burdened down with cares that push you away from your purpose. The devil knows that when you get started, he can no longer stop you! He knows that when you getting moving, the Lord is already crafting out the vision. Don’t fret overcomer! Satan and his schemes will be destroyed and defeated-hallelujah! Know that the time is now!

You don’t have to wait for God’s favor, you have it now! Now is the day of salvation! Now is the acceptable and favorable time.

It all starts with us and our sisters, the time is now!

Vision Works…

It’s something lovely when you see the big picture. You can see the big booming business, you can see the strut across the stage, you can see the beautiful children-the vision looks incredible!

Rarely do we picture the work. Rarely do we see the tears and the sweat. Rarely do we see the money spent and the time put in. But there is work required for the vision, friends.

That business requires a plan, time, and money. That degree requires long nights and tons of studying. Those children have to be carried, pushed out, and cared for. That beautiful vision requires work.

The vision requires prayer. The vision requires faith. The vision requires relationship. The vision has to be submitted to the Lord so that He may establish the work of our hands. The Word tells us so:

The vision must be put on paper and put into action. Vision works! It requires connections, community, and collaboration. Seeing the vision of God come to pass in our lives requires a trust in Him that far exceeds what we see. We must look to the hills from where our help comes from.

Friends, the vision must accompanied with unyielding faith in the Father-and that requires work! Declaring prosperity in dry times is work, decreeing a thriving environment while operating in survival mode is work, declaring positivity in a world full of negativity is work!

Work the vision, friend! Commit all that you do to the Lord and see the establishment of your plans!

Counting the Cost…

Ever been undecided about purchasing an item, wondering to yourself if it is worth the cost? After contemplating, you may say to yourself that it isn’t worth it for a variety of reasons. On the other hand, you may say to yourself that you are going to press forward with the purchase for a number of reasons.

Either way, for some items, we take the time to weigh the cost. Think about the purchase of your home or the purchase of your car-you researched, you consulted with others, you may have even prayed about it-then you decided.

When we decide to follow Christ, we must weigh the cost. Oh, make no mistake about it-He is absolutely worth it all! However, following Christ comes with specific responsibilities. We cannot be surprised when we have to lose some things in the process of choosing Christ:

That job may have to go. That boyfriend may have to go. Those friendships may have to end. You may be unable to frequent those same places. You may have to turn off certain songs and movies.

And when we don’t follow Christ, the cost is too great to bear! The Word tells us so:

This is beyond salvation. Salvation is important for everybody, no doubt about that! Along with salvation, we must be doing the work of the Lord. We become saved because we commit our lives to Him. We cannot serve Christ half-heartedly, we must give Him our whole lives.

Consider the cost of walking your own way, doing your own thing-the cost is too great to bear! What if you gain all the world’s riches but die spiritually in the process? What if you serve on every church committee but fail to do the ONE thing God told you to do? What if all the relationships you are holding on to kills you slowly? We must count the cost!

Counting the cost helps us understand the great profit that comes with living fully and completely for Christ: We gain Him! We are able to call on the Lord! We are able to cry out, Abba, Father! And we get to spend eternity with our Lord.

Fill Me Up!

Do you find yourself on empty? (Check out our post from last week Empty Cup…) If so, we want to encourage you to fill yourself up! We best fill ourselves up by sitting at the feet of the Savior. Emptiness is associated with experiencing a drought. Emptiness can be sadness. Emptiness can mean that you are just unsatisfied. But there is good news, we can find it here:

He will satisfy you! You know how you can eat junk food but still find yourself unsatisfied? Or maybe you can have a simple home cooked meal and be full as a tick? It’s all about the content when it comes to filling yourself up!

We want the Lord! Temporary relationships, meaningless work, toxic friendships will never satisfy! Eating the things of this world won’t fill you up! There is satisfaction in Christ! There is contentment in Christ!

Feeling discontent? Feeling sadness? Feeling dry? Seek the Savior and savor His living water! His Word promises to fill us, never to leave us longing again. Cry out for the Father to fill you up! He will fill you with purpose and direction, He will fill you with love and joy, He will fill you with peace.

This isn’t a cliche, this isn’t a momentary statement, this is truth-because the Father said so! If we are not careful, this world will drain us dry! Oh but we have a Father who will love us back to life! We have a Father that will fill us up with Him!

Let this song minister to you as you seek the Father to fill you up: https://youtu.be/LZzets3JTA4

Trailblazer…

It’s Black History Month and we are learning about African American trailblazers. Those folks who were the first to do something, those who broke societal ceilings, and those who weathered the racial climate to achieve their goals. One may say that the season of the trailblazer is over, we say, quite the contrary!

Those African American pioneers were making the way for those coming behind them! They may not have even been aware of what they were creating-all they knew is that the job had to be down-and they said yes! So the season of the trailblazer is far from over! There is so much more work to be done.

You are a trailblazer! The generations behind you are waiting for you to make the path, the generations behind you need you to achieve your goal, those behind you need the barriers to be broken so that they can walk through the door. That may be a scary thought, but know that you are not alone-the Father is with you! The Word says so:

Yes, the first stoplight has been created. Open heart surgery has already been done. Integration has already been done. You may not have your name in history books but you may have your name in your family’s story as the first marriage that didn’t end in divorce. You blaze the trail by getting deliverance from that trauma of your past. You make the path for those behind you by saving, budgeting, and investing. You set the trail by become healthy and whole. Your name may not end up in lights but you can be a light in dark places.

Trailblazer, you are making history! By accomplishing the will of the Lord, you can make a difference! By not yielding in your faith, you can turn the generations towards the Lord! By operating in the power of the Holy Spirit, you can light the path that points others towards the Lord!

Be the trailblazer, you are not alone!

Pruned for Purpose…

“Your setback was a cutback for the harvest.” Pastor D

The end of that relationship was necessary. The layoff from the job was necessary. The temporary illness was necessary. That door closure was necessary.

Your setback was a cutback for the harvest. How can we receive the harvest when our mind, our heart, and our minds are full? The pruning is necessary. Too many distractions cloud our judgment. Too many people speaking our ear affects our ability to hear the voice of God. A great dependence on the things of the world leaves little room for God to move.

The pruning is purposeful. God has to remove the branches that produce no fruit. God has to remove the branches that are too full. God wants to increase the fruitfulness of our branches. He wants to ensure that our branches produce much fruit. In order for the Master Gardener to make us fruitful, He must cut some things away.

So let’s wipe our eyes over the end of the friendship, the Lord is making room for strong women of God to come into our lives to encourage us and hold us accountable. The end of that secular job, is the beginning of that ministry that will bless your community. Your illness increased your faith.

The Father is at work, cutting, pruning, mending for our purpose, His glory, and our good. We have to trust in Him, He is faithful. As His children, He longs to fulfill the desires of our heart. So rejoice, the cutback deserves our praise!

Their god to the Lord God…

Your life change a person’s life. Yep, yours. You may begin to reflect and see the tons of mistakes or rough choices that you’ve made and begin to number the reasons why that isn’t not true. But quite the contrary friend! The Lord can (and probably already have) use your life to be transformative!

You matter to your sphere of influence. Let’s look at Jonah. (This is a very abbreviated version!) He’s commanded by the Lord to go and preach to the people of Nineveh. Scared and unwillingly, he hops in a boat for elsewhere. A storm comes, those on the boat begin to cry out, “each to their god”:

“Then the mariners were afraid, and each cried out to his god. And they hurled the cargo that was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them. But Jonah had gone down into the inner part of the ship and had lain down and was fast asleep.” ‭‭Jonah‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭

They cried out to a “little g”, someone who did not have the capability to save them. However, these men were not blind, they could discern that there was someone in their presence that could impact their situation for the better. Jonah was there, it was the Lord to whom they bowed. These unbelieving men cried out to the Lord because of the presence of Jonah:

See the transition?! They went from the little g to the One who could save their life! Jonah’s disobedience lead these men to cry out to the Living God! Now, this is not approving sin or disobedience-not at all! This passage of scripture tells us that we can be used to plant the Word of God into those who do not believe. This Word tells believers that they can water seeds already planted. We don’t know which of the men on the boat received salvation. But what we do know is that God’s name were on their lips.

You may say that you aren’t equipped. You may even be running right now from the Lord. Friend, you can ALWAYS be used by the Lord to bring forth salvation. Believe the Lord when He says that your light will shine in darkness. Believe the Lord when He tells you that your life matters. Believe the Lord when He leads you to call that unsaved loved one or encourage others, you can be the catalyst to introduce someone to Christ!

Know that no matter what you’ve done or what has been done to you, you can be used by the Lord for His glory and your good!

They that wait…

Food typically taste better when it is heated in the oven. The flavor is preserved. There aren’t those pesky hotspots. The food is crisp. The heat is evenly distributed. But it is the waiting. Ah, the waiting. Our microwave generation selves are not really great fans of waiting. Ah, but the fruit that is present in the waiting is priceless.

And waiting in the Lord? Nothing compares! You may be able to get it done quicker and faster, but the Lord is able to do it RIGHT! Not only does He do it better, there are a few benefits for they that wait on the Lord, scripture tells us so:

They that wait are renewed. They that wait will run and not get weary. They that wait will walk and not get faint. They that wait are able to see the beauty of the Lord. Their patience is strengthened. Their hearts are purified. Their focus is laser sharp.

Will we join those that wait? Will we separate ourselves from the microwave generation and join the slow cooker crowd? Will we wait for the hand of the Lord to show itself? Will we be the ones who trust in the heart of God when we can’t see His hand?

In this seasons of New Year goals and resolutions, wait on the Lord for that weight loss as you strive for a healthier lifestyle. Wait on the Lord as He restores your finances as you budget and save. Wait on the Lord to reveal Himself as you seek Him through intentional fasting and prayer. Don’t give up! Just wait…

They that wait are empowered, encouraged, and emboldened to run on!
