The Armor of God: Praise

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal. The fight isn’t against flesh and blood. Therefore, it makes sense that the armor of God isn’t crafted by human hands. So today, let’s consider the power of our praise! Praise is truly a weapon!

Praise is often considered to be synonymous with music. It’s so much more! Our praise doesn’t come from Maverick City Music or Fred Hammond, it comes from the fruit of our lips and our lips alone! It’s the words you speak, the tears that run down your cheek, and the groan and moan before the Lord. Let’s consider the Word:

Go back and read Joshua 6 and the fall of the wall of Jericho. The people’s faithfulness, obedience and praise caused the wall to fall! Their shout was a weapon! They had access to the manmade tools to cause the wall to fall but their praise was much more powerful!

Is there a wall blocking access to your promised territory? Is there a mountain in your way? Praise your way through! There is power in your praise! Praising the Lord is a great weapon in your arsenal.

The enemy wants you to speak negatively. He’s waiting for you to speak death to your promise-sisters, let’s choose to praise our way through the fight! Let’s choose to rejoice and give thanks unto the Lord for the victory!

It’s time to strap on praise. It’s time to lift our hands and our voices and declare that the Lord is GOOD and that He is worthy to be praised!

Pick up your praise and fight-the Lord, your God, is with you!

His Perfect Plan…

Who else gets excited when they see this verse:

Come on now?! We know that scripture causes a good ole Holy Ghost shout! As it should! In a world filled with uncertainty, it’s good to know that the very Creator of the Universe has it all together! His plan is absolute perfection…

The promotion, the kids, the husband, the house-all apart of His perfect plan! Hallelujah! We can rejoice at the thought of His perfect plan for our lives!

Let’s also consider verse 10, when He speaks about spending 70 years in Babylon. Let’s consider verse 14 where He speaks about restoring and returning from exile. Those words cannot be overlooked…

Maybe Babylon is the job that laid you off and 70 years is a representation of the timeframe between jobs. Perhaps restoration involves recovering from a miscarriage. Perhaps the gathering means at one point you were lost. Could the silence you hear when you pray be apart of His perfect plan? Could the rejection from that “dream” job be apart of His perfect plan? Could that failed relationship be apart of His perfect plan?

Yes, yes, and yes. We cannot praise Him for the manifestation of the promise and curse Him for the presence of pain. Perfection, for the children of Israel, involved exile, loss, and destruction as well as promises, protection, and guidance. Why? Because it helped them return to their First Love. It led them to the Eternal Savior and not a temporary one.

That’s His perfect plan-for us to return to Him-whatever it takes!

So yes-His perfect plan involved the loss of a love and the love of your life. It involved your demotion and promotion. It involved the season of prosperity and the season of lack. His perfect plan involved the pain of the cross and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Perfection is not the presence of good, it is seeking and desiring the presence of God.

Thankful Thursday…

The Lord knows what we have need of, He knows the desires of our heart. He knows our cares and concerns. Sometimes our best prayers come through our praise. We can praise the Lord, knowing that He can and will do what we’ve asked. We praise resting in the sovereignty of the Lord our God. Let’s look to the beautiful words of Psalm 100!

1) “Lift up a great shout of joy to Yahweh! Go ahead and do it—everyone, everywhere!

2) Worship Yahweh with gladness. Sing your way into his presence with joy!

3) And realize what this really means— we have the privilege of worshiping Yahweh our God. For he is our Creator and we belong to him. We are the people of his pleasure.

4) You can pass through his open gates with the password of praise. Come right into his presence with thanksgiving. Come bring your thank offering to him and affectionately bless his beautiful name!

5) For Yahweh is always good and ready to receive you. He’s so loving that it will amaze you— so kind that it will astound you! And he is famous for his faithfulness toward all. Everyone knows our God can be trusted, for he keeps his promises to every generation!”

Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord!

From Egypt to Eternity…

Egypt, for the children of Israel, represented a place of comfort, bondage, and complacency. Egypt was dry and full of despair. When enslaved in Egypt, the children of Israel had to endure hard labor, with minimal pay, and survived from the crumbs of the Pharoah’s table.

Does Egypt sound familiar? It should-it’s where we live spiritually until we meet Christ. Without Him we are hopeless, in poverty (spiritually), and in bondage. From a spiritual perspective, Egypt is beautiful on the outside, empty on the inside.

Sisters, we can rejoice because we have a Savior that promises to remove us from our Egypt!

One translation (the Easy To Read version) reminds us that the Lord is the one who saved us! We have transitioned from Egypt to eternity! When we decide to accept the call of the Lord, we crossed over! When the children of Israel decided to heed to the call of the Lord through following Moses, they became etched into the Book of Life!

Like the children of Israel, we made some poor choices on the way that has taken generations to resolve. We have desired to run back to Egypt to be comfortable. We’ve desired go back to the very bondage we were freed from, just like the children of Israel.

Accepting Christ has ushered us until eternity! We can rejoice at the fact that we are no longer fighting for the crumbs of Pharoah’s table. We have a table prepared just for us! We are no longer in a dry land-we now have the promise of a land flowing with milk and honey!

Let’s rejoice-as our soul wonders how we got over, we can proclaim the name of our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior-the One who saved us!

Dethroned: Lack

Sister, you lack absolutely NOTHING! Are you hearing the voice of the Lord? In Him, you have all that you need! Now, we are not ignorant to the fact that there are things that you may not have and there may be things that you desire-but lack is not your portion. In Christ, we shall not want.

The world can make us feel like we are lacking all that we need, all that we want, and all that we desire. Remove that concept of lack from the seat of your heart. It has no place, it’s sitting in the Father’s seat. As His child, how can we subscribe to the lies of the enemy?

Sisters, we have all we need! We don’t have to covet the things our family and friends have, your Heavenly Father is the very Creator of the Universe. He gave us the most precious gift we could ever receive, His One and Only Son. Salvation is priceless, joy cannot be priced, and peace is freely given to all who profess Christ. We do not have to want for anything.

Tell that ugly voice of lack to have a seat! It has no place with us. Tell Satan that he is a liar. The King of our heart will grant us the desires of our heart as we delight in Him. The only One we need is Christ.

Every time the perceived notion of lack tries to speak: whisper this truth over you: “And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭4:19‬

The Art of Stillness…

Imagine being nervous around bees. It’s hard to stand still. You may find yourself running away, shrieking or swatting them away. Being still is the last thing you want to be. You can substitute bees for whatever creepy, crawly things that frightens you. Or think about when you have company over, most of the time-we aren’t still. We are serving guests, straightening up, and moving around to ensure everyone is comfortable.

There is an art in being still, it requires skill and practice. You have to be calm, cool, and collected. You have to learn how to be fully present. You have to train yourself to simply enjoy the moment and endure the process. Being still can be quite challenging.

If you train yourself to be still around a bee, you will learn that the bee isn’t interested in you at all. If you learn to be still when you have guests over, you can hear the heart of the person in your presence. And if you learn how to be still before the Lord, you will see just how powerful and mighty He truly is.

Stillness requires confidence. You have to train yourself to trust in the Master’s hands and not your own. Being still trains us to learn the heart of God and to hear His voice. If we are still enough, we can experience His hand mending our broken heart back together. Being still increases our faith, softens our heart, and soothes our weary soul.

Be still and know: that He is God, that he is the Lion of Judah, that He is fighting for you, that He loves you, that you can trust Him, and that He is Lord of all.

Just…be…still.

The Power of Can’t…

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” Henry Ford

Have you ever taught a young child how to do something? When experiencing difficulty, they usually say-“I can’t do it” or “It’s not working”. As the adult, you generally find another strategy to use so that they can gain the concept. You may even simply encourage them to try again. And whether it takes once or five more times, they usually get it done.

The usage of “can’t” prohibits us. Saying that we cannot do something limits us. Every variation of cannot limits us and if we think about it, we limit the movement of God. Instead of saying, “I can’t give it up” or “I don’t have what it takes to accomplish this task”, we must switch our language to focusing on what God can do. The moment “can’t” leaves your lips, it manifests! There is life and death in the power of the tongue.

Let’s remove those limitations, let’s take the limits off! May we diminish the power of the “can’t”! May we decrease it’s power and increase the power of the Lord in our lives! The Lord can and will do that which is according to His will and His way! Let’s take our eyes off the “can’t” and put it on the “can” of the Lord! What can God do? He can do the impossible:

The moment “can’t” tries to leave your lips, submit that thought immediately to the Lord. You can lead that business. You can start that company. You can become debt free. You can be healed and made whole. This isn’t about prosperity gospel, this is about acknowledging and submitting to the power of the Lord!

Destroy the power of “can’t” and allow what the Lord can do in you and through you be made manifest in your life!

Kept by the King…

Dear sister, don’t you know that you are kept by the King? This world will tell you that you are alone, forgotten, and neglected-do not fall for Satan and his host of lies. You are in the hands of the King!

We aren’t talking about some artificial government official. Our King does not bow to this world and it’s ways. Our King sits high above and on a throne-not a man made one but a heavenly throne. The King who keeps us-the King who keeps you-is above all of these earthly things. We must wrap ourselves in this truth:

His protection is guaranteed. We do not have to be fearful of this world, our King keeps us. His provision is assured. We do not have to be concerned about how we will received what we need. His presence is cemented, He promises to never leave nor forsake us.

We are kept by the King! Let this truth mark your identity and existence. You don’t have to pretend to be someone you are not. You do not have to prove you are worthy. You do not have to compete with anyone else, the King is keeping you!

Through all of your trials and obstacles, you are in the Father’s hand! Hold your head up, woman of God-the Father keeps you! You are in His right hand! You have not been abandoned, you have not been left alone-you have a King who is keeping you and blessing you beyond all measure.

Dear sister, you are kept by the King.
