War Wounds…

Picture it: It’s 1992, it’s raining outside, and you are single digits year old. You are running around a kitchen table with some neighbor friends, even though your mother told you and your friends to stop a million times. She’s talking, you are playing and then SMACK! You run into the corner of a kitchen wall, there are stars and that’s all you remember.

It’s double digits years later and the wound remains! While this story is truly comical, many times our scars are not. For a long time, this scar was not funny. It’s appearance makes one feel self-conscious and although healed, it’s very visible.

After a while, the scar became easier to love, easier to laugh at, and easier to appreciate. Our wounds can teach us a million lessons. For me, it helped me to realize how fun being a kid was, how the corners on walls are super dangerous, and how disobedience has consequences.

What about your wounds? The c-section scar, the scrap on the knee that is now healed, the scar from an abusive relationship. If nothing else, our wounds should teach us that we are survivors! Our wounds should demonstrate that we can overcome. Our scars should speak of the Healer who is greater than any advancement in modern medicine.

For Thomas, the scars of Jesus taught him to believe. As Jesus reappeared after His death, Thomas wasn’t so sure about the whole process. For Thomas, he needed to touch and see that Jesus was who He said. When he saw and touched the scars of Jesus, he knew:

Woman of God, touch your war wound, and be amazed at the glory of God. Woman of God, touch that c-section scar and marveled at the fact that the Lord was with you in that moment. Sister, touch that healed wound from that abusive ex, and be amazed at the Lord saving you from that relationship. Will you scars help you to believe?

Let’s not be ashamed of our wounds and scars! They tell the story of the goodness of Jesus! They demonstrate how He can make beauty out of ashes. Scars yell freedom for some. Wounds build faith for others. It did for Thomas, let those scars you possess do it for you.

No longer be ashamed of the war wounds you possess, mighty woman of God. Because of those scars, you are alive, you are healed, and you are victorious. Let your scars tell a bleeding, dying and wounded world that the Lord, your God, healed you and saved you.

Peace and Blessings

Built (Christ) Tough!

Have you ever heard the phrase “Built Ford Tough”? This phrase has typically been subscribed to Ford trucks because…they’re big! They are pretty sturdy and made with steel. Their wheels are big-simply massive.

Traditionally, when people are considered tough, they, too, are described in similar fashion. Think of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He’s massive and for men, he’s probably considered to be the prototype. For women, perhaps it’s someone like Serena Williams-she’s perceived to be a force to be reckoned with.

Supernaturally, however, the Lord does not look at the physical to perceive one’s strength. He doesn’t look at muscles, height, or athletic ability. We should be thankful for that! The Rock and Serena are unique human beings-and so are YOU! When the Lord looks at strength or maturity, let’s consider this verse:

Gentleness will win every time! Let’s strive to be built Christ tough! It’s kindness, patience, and love that demonstrates strength. Think about the world we live in? Do we need another person to yell? No. Do we need another “strong” opinion? Absolutely not. We need gentle responses to wrath. We need soft responses to anger tones. We need love as Satan, author of hate, roams the Earth seeking whom he may devour.

Woman of God, as you engage in this spiritual warfare, be built Christ tough. Be kind. Be gentle. Speak the truth in love. Choose silence. Choose love. Choose to smile instead of frown. Choose to be patient.

Know that the love you show to others, the kindness to show to others, the prayers you pray, the hospitality you show, the choice to be submissive to the Lord and your husband, the care you give to your household-this is what makes you strong! The tears that flow, the joy you show, and the quiet beauty you possess-these are demonstrations of true strength!

Mighty daughter of the King, know that you are built CHRIST tough! And this is stronger than any natural strength you could ever have!

Armored Up: The Tongue

The tongue is a powerful tool! The Word of God says so:

We’ve all heard that one, right? While the term “cliché” may come to mind, we must remember that the Word of God is LIFE and there is nothing cliché about the Word of God!

The tongue is an important weapon in this spiritual warfare battle that we are constantly engaged in, woman of God!

From the life perspective of the tongue, this is where we can speak life into dead situations. The tongue can bring dead things back to life: your sick loved one, your dead job, your lifeless marriage, your wayward child. Our tongue speaks the life-filled Word of God! Yes, let’s learn how to arm ourselves with life-giving scriptures, encouragement, and positive words. Let’s use our tongues to communicate the promises of God. Command your mornings. Speak healing words over those who are hurting. Declare and decree the truth of the Lord over your family. There is LIFE in the power of the tongue and we must be ready to speak life at all times!

Let’s look at the tongue as a tool of death, we know how words can hurt right? We know that old saying of “sticking and stones breaking our bones but words never hurting” is a complete lie. But mighty woman of God, did you realize that your tongue can be a tool to kill the schemes and strategies of the enemy?! Oh yes, let’s use our tongues to trample all over the agenda of the enemy! Let’s use our tongues to extinguish those fiery darts coming our way! Let’s put to death those lies from Satan’s mouth! Declare and decree that every witch and warlock have no power over you. Use your tongue to kill the desires of the flesh!

Yes, sister, there is life and death in the power of the tongue. It is time to use that tongue to give life and to put to death the demonic agendas that is trying to rule and reign in our lives.

Let us shout the name of Jesus with our tongues and advance forward, the battle is already won!

Peace and Blessings

Armored Up: Letting Go…

Being armored up and letting go may sound like complete opposites, but they are not. Think about a solider: when they are on the battlefield, they are not able to carry a ton of unnecessary things. They carry those things that are going to keep them alive. Maybe a canteen of water, maybe a pouch of food-but if they have nothing else, they most certainly have their weapons! The soldier is focused on making it back home to their loved ones and fighting for their country.

Mighty woman of God, we must have that same mentality! It’s time to let go of the things that are weighing you down and hold on the very thing that will keep you alive: The Sword of the Spirit! As women, we tend to take on loads that were never intended for us. We have the tendency to bear the burdens of others. Sister, that will wear you out! It’s time to let go.

It’s time to lay those burdens down! It’s time to recognize that we are no one’s Savior! It’s time to stand and fight! You are more susceptible to defeat if you are trying to fight battles that are not yours. Letting go can be one of our most powerful tools as we engage in spiritual warfare. The only tools we need in our hands is our Shield of Faith and the Sword of the Spirit!

The Sword of the Spirit is the mighty Word of God! The name of Jesus will make our greatest enemy bow! The Word of God will rebuke Satan and his minions. The Sword will cut down any obstacle that stands in our way. Your empty hands helps you use your Sword with confidence, power, and precision.

Let go of your loved ones’ burdens and grab your sword! Cast those cares before the Lord and speak to those mountains! Warriors, be strong enough to let go. The lighter your load, the longer you will go.

Fight the good fight, mighty woman of God! Victory awaits!

The Armor of God: Helmet of Salvation…

Our minds are so vulnerable, this is why we are instructed to put on the helmet of salvation every day. If Satan affects our thinking, he wins! It’s important to know the Word of God and the promises of God to stand firm in the midst of battle.

The helmet of salvation helps us to remember that we belong to the Lord! It helps cement the fact that we are children of God. The helmet protects from the fiery darts and lies of the enemy.

When left unprotected, our mind becomes susceptible to faulty thinking. We must remember that the warfare is real and Satan’s schemes are subtle. It starts with the comparisons we make when we see someone who we think is prettier, smarter, more financially stable or a better mom, wife, etc. The Word of God warns against this form of attack:

So what does this helmet look like? It’s our salvation story, it’s our testimony about the goodness of the Lord, and it’s our attentiveness to the Word of God. It’s the power we tap into when we make our thoughts bow to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

So we stay covered by reading the Word. We remain constant in prayer We put on the helmet of salvation when we believe the Lord over the world. We guard our ear gates and eye gates. We renew our minds daily. We remember that we are victorious through Christ Jesus. We focus on being more than conquerors. We operate from a position of thankfulness.

Keep your helmets on sisters-the battle is raging on but we have already won!

The Armor of God: Praise

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal. The fight isn’t against flesh and blood. Therefore, it makes sense that the armor of God isn’t crafted by human hands. So today, let’s consider the power of our praise! Praise is truly a weapon!

Praise is often considered to be synonymous with music. It’s so much more! Our praise doesn’t come from Maverick City Music or Fred Hammond, it comes from the fruit of our lips and our lips alone! It’s the words you speak, the tears that run down your cheek, and the groan and moan before the Lord. Let’s consider the Word:

Go back and read Joshua 6 and the fall of the wall of Jericho. The people’s faithfulness, obedience and praise caused the wall to fall! Their shout was a weapon! They had access to the manmade tools to cause the wall to fall but their praise was much more powerful!

Is there a wall blocking access to your promised territory? Is there a mountain in your way? Praise your way through! There is power in your praise! Praising the Lord is a great weapon in your arsenal.

The enemy wants you to speak negatively. He’s waiting for you to speak death to your promise-sisters, let’s choose to praise our way through the fight! Let’s choose to rejoice and give thanks unto the Lord for the victory!

It’s time to strap on praise. It’s time to lift our hands and our voices and declare that the Lord is GOOD and that He is worthy to be praised!

Pick up your praise and fight-the Lord, your God, is with you!

Peace and Blessings

Word of God: Authority

Scriptures have been used to justify slavery, to justify belittling women, and used to condemn others. We wonder how the Lord feels about that? Did we even seek Him out? His Word is too powerful to be misused!

We can only imagine that the Lord is not pleased when His Word is mishandled. He knows that the Word is authority and we should know as well. It will do what He has commanded it to do. He is not out to see others enslaved, women demeaned, or people condemned. His Word is life and it has been used improperly.

Let’s remember that His Word is authority, used to cement the the rule and reign of God Almighty.

His Word is firm. His Word is settled. His Word is cemented. His Word is power. His Word is authority. What did God say about the matter? If He said it, it is so. We are to stand on His authority and His alone.

Our situations must bow to the authority of God’s Word. Our enemies are defeated by the authority of God’s Word. Our purposes and plans are found in God’s Word. It is His promises that define our lives. Before we research the world’s perspective, did we seek out the Father’s command?

The Lord’s Words are not empty, meaningless mumblings-they are life shaping, life forming, and life giving. God’s Word is authority.

Peace and Blessings

Word of God: Life

Isn’t it amazing what a kind word can do for your day? Think about the last time someone genuinely complimented you-how did it make you feel? What did it do for your day? Research shows the power of gratitude, the wonder of appreciation, and the art of thankfulness-it has health benefits, affects your productivity, and alleviates sadness.

While science made have just discovered the benefits of a positive word, believers of God through Jesus Christ should know the power of words. The Word of God is life!

Words are living, breathing, and active. Need to feel better? Speak God’s Word over you! Need to be encouraged? Go to the Word! Need to comfort someone? Use the Word of God! Facing a tough situation? Declare and decree the promises of God over your situation.

We must remember the power that is in God’s Word. Maybe the social sciences are just getting the program but we cannot afford to forget that our salvation story starts with the Word of God! We spoke and believed that God did it. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony! The Word of God is life.

It’s not just an positive affirmation. It is not just a positive statement or quote. It is living, breathing, and active.

Peace and Blessings

Dethroned: Fear

Fear cannot reign nor can it rule. Do you hear the Lord? Fear is not from Him. It can exist but it is not eternal. We all have something we are afraid of but it cannot have authority. Fear may be a natural response but we have supernatural power. The supernatural trumps the natural each and every time.

Let’s not give fear supernatural power, let’s not make fear an authority figure in our lives, and let’s not allow fear to sit on the throne of our hearts! Let’s be bold sisters! Let’s overrule the fear that tries to take root in our lives.

The Lord must be ruler, Master, and Lord over all of our lives. He is the One who frees us, He is the One who determine that power, love and a sound mind shall rule, and He is the One who has all power and authority in His mighty hands. Let’s toss fear at the feet of Jesus. No longer are we afraid! We are free-Hallelujah!

We don’t fear what will come: the future is in the Father’s hands. We don’t fear a repeat of our pasts: it is finished. We don’t fear our enemies: they shall be our footstool. We don’t fear Satan and His schemes: We, in Christ, have the victory!

Dethrone fear sisters! Let’s make sure that Christ alone sit on the thrones of our hearts and minds.

Peace and Blessings

What’s in a name?

“Trust God to be God…” Author Unknown

Such a powerful message! We cry out how much we love God. We exclaim about how much He is our Lord and Savior. We shout about how powerful He is, how amazing He is, and how He holds the whole world in His hands. But then we try to plan, we try to “help the Lord out” by doing it our way, and relying on our knowledge and power. Don’t fret, it’s not too late to recognize the power behind His name! We can began to fully trust in the name of the Lord.

Let’s try it out this way:

Imagine if we trusted God to be God. Imagine if we trusted Him to be all He said He is! Oh how our worlds would shift! As you trust Him to be God over your life, you will begin to feel the foundations shaking! You will see the barriers begin to fall, you will see the mountains move! We will say His name, but will we trust in the power of His name?!

We know His name? Now, let’s trust in His name! He will not fail.
