Staying focused on a task these days can prove to be quite difficult. How many times have you gotten distracted while doing a task? Distractions can be hard to ignore: a ringing phone, a chatty coworker, or a wandering thought-we’ve all been there! And once you attend to the distraction, at times, it can be difficult to get back on track.

We can probably relate to Peter in more ways than one: Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Matthew 14:29-30

We must stay focused on our journey with the Lord. Peter got distracted by the winds and waves, haven’t we all been there? But imagine what Peter could have achieved if he just remained focused on the Lord?!

Imagine how your prayer life, how your bible study, and ministry life would be strengthened if you just remained focused on the Lord. The winds and the waves of life are so incredibly ever-present, but so is the Lord, YOUR God! He has authority over the winds and the waves!

He is with you, even in the midst of the winds and waves of life. As you focus on Him, begin to speak to those winds and waves, telling them to be still! As you focus on the Lord, tell your winds and waves that they won’t distract you from your mission and purpose in Christ. Cliche but true, tell your winds and waves how BIG your God is!

Just focus and walk, trusting Him along the way, with your winds and waves.

Know Your Limits…

After going for a while, you need a rest right? Most computers usually need to be restarted after a while. Most phones need to be rebooted to work correctly. Most cars need a tune-up.

Everything and everyone has a limit. Eventually, you will need to eat or sleep. Keep going without refueling and you will get weary. You will become disoriented, irritable, and frustrated. You, contrary to popular belief (or your own belief), are not the Energizer Bunny. If you keep going and going, you will crash eventually.

You my friend, amazing and wonderful in all of your ways, was created to be limited. My sister, know your limits. You are not superwoman. And thank God for that! Thank God that you are no one’s Savior. Thank God that the fate of the world does not rest in your hands. Its a weight that you cannot bear, yet you have a Father who is willing to do that for you.

There is only One who is beyond limits, beyond human comprehension, beyond the constraints of time. Seek Him. Lean on Him. He is perfect in your weakness.

You serve a limitless God. He is the only One who can do the impossible. He is the only One who can do exceedingly and abundantly all that you could ask or think. He is the only One who saves.

So rest in His limitlessness and rejoice and boast in your limits.

Accomplishing the Impossible

We tend to stray away from the impossible as humans. We like to focus on the accomplishments that can be done by our human hands and resources. Perhaps it’s because we consciously or unconsciously want to take all of the credit. Or maybe it’s because our limited and finite minds cannot venture into the impossible. Either way, we tend to tread in safe waters.

And the definition of impossible varies from person to person. For one, the impossible may be traveling the world when you’ve never left your city. For another, it may be starting your own business.

Whatever impossible is for you, be encouraged you to launch out into the deep! Dream BIG! Shoot for the impossible! It is time for you to move away from the shore and to go into that uncomfortable territory.

Venturing out into the impossible strips you of your strength and places the control into the Lord’s hand. And who better to do that than God?! He specializes in the impossible!

God can do exceedingly and abundantly all that we ask! There is absolutely NOTHING that is impossible with God. Are you willing to trust Him with your impossible? Are you willing to dream big for Him?

Say that impossible thing out loud! With fear and trembling, pray that big dream and vision to God. Don’t be discouraged by your past or circumstances. Don’t be limited by your perceived resources.

The Creator of the Universe longs to see the desires of your heart met. He is a good, good Father who will take you by the hand as you launch out into the deep. He is unlimited in His power and He wants you to trust Him with all that you have, even those big plans you have for yourself.

Accomplish the impossible by leaning on the One who overcame the impossible.
