Cling Tenaciously…

Tenaciousness can carry an negative connotation at times. Someone being considered tenacious can be linked to being rude, aggressive, and without care and concern for others. Isn’t it amazing how the Lord can turn whatever He desires from negative to positive for His glory? Let’s consider this verse:

“Inasmuch then as we [believers] have a great High Priest who has [already ascended and] passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith and cling tenaciously to our absolute trust in Him as Savior].” Hebrews‬ ‭4:14‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The amplified version of Hebrews 4:14 exhorts believers to cling tenaciously! Let us cling tenaciously to our absolute trust in the Father! Let’s be firm, aggressive, and without care or concern for the things of the world when it comes to trusting in our Father! Let’s be unwilling to yield or compromise when it comes to holding to our confession and our faith in the Lord our God.

The world will want to define you as foolish, naive, and silly for clinging to Someone who you cannot see, touch, or feel. This world will want us to loosen our grip and grab on to the tangible and the destructible. The Word gives us that warning:

Be tenacious for our Father! Cling to our Creator! This concept of clinging requires focus, strength, patience and love. Your firm grasp is power! Your faith will move the mountains of your life, if only we can remember to cling tenaciously.

Be unwavering in articulating about the power of the Lord our God. Be passionate about demonstrating the love of God through Jesus Christ. Be immovable about declaring the goodness of God.

Sisters, let’s cling tenaciously to the very One who saved us from the brink of death. Let’s cling to our Savior.

Side Effects of Trust…

It can be quite challenging trusting in Someone who we cannot see. Everything in the world tells us to trust in the tangible things and those things we can touch, see, taste, feel, and smell. However, trusting in the tools of the world can leave us feeling empty, discontent, and chasing after the wind.

Oh friends, but when we choose to trust in the Lord, the rewards-the side effects-are greater than anything we could ever imagine. Let’s look at the Word:

Joy. Peace. Overflow. Hope. Power: these are the side effects of trusting in the Lord! Much different than what we hear when we are watching television and the side effects of popular medications are read. The side effects of many of those medications include the possibility of death.

Oh but God! The side effects of trusting in the Lord includes life, joy, and peace! It can be scary to trusting in One whom you cannot see, but the effect of not trusting in the Lord just isn’t worth it!

Distrust in the Lord causes us to be a slave to this world and it’s empty promises. Not trusting the Lord leaves us always wanting more of empty things. Trusting in the world and it’s systems causes us to fear the future.

So let’s be a people who are excited about the side effects of trusting in our Father, He is a place of safety, our shield, our Protector. The effects of trusting in the Lord, our God will save our very lives.

Vision Works…

It’s something lovely when you see the big picture. You can see the big booming business, you can see the strut across the stage, you can see the beautiful children-the vision looks incredible!

Rarely do we picture the work. Rarely do we see the tears and the sweat. Rarely do we see the money spent and the time put in. But there is work required for the vision, friends.

That business requires a plan, time, and money. That degree requires long nights and tons of studying. Those children have to be carried, pushed out, and cared for. That beautiful vision requires work.

The vision requires prayer. The vision requires faith. The vision requires relationship. The vision has to be submitted to the Lord so that He may establish the work of our hands. The Word tells us so:

The vision must be put on paper and put into action. Vision works! It requires connections, community, and collaboration. Seeing the vision of God come to pass in our lives requires a trust in Him that far exceeds what we see. We must look to the hills from where our help comes from.

Friends, the vision must accompanied with unyielding faith in the Father-and that requires work! Declaring prosperity in dry times is work, decreeing a thriving environment while operating in survival mode is work, declaring positivity in a world full of negativity is work!

Work the vision, friend! Commit all that you do to the Lord and see the establishment of your plans!

Counting the Cost…

Ever been undecided about purchasing an item, wondering to yourself if it is worth the cost? After contemplating, you may say to yourself that it isn’t worth it for a variety of reasons. On the other hand, you may say to yourself that you are going to press forward with the purchase for a number of reasons.

Either way, for some items, we take the time to weigh the cost. Think about the purchase of your home or the purchase of your car-you researched, you consulted with others, you may have even prayed about it-then you decided.

When we decide to follow Christ, we must weigh the cost. Oh, make no mistake about it-He is absolutely worth it all! However, following Christ comes with specific responsibilities. We cannot be surprised when we have to lose some things in the process of choosing Christ:

That job may have to go. That boyfriend may have to go. Those friendships may have to end. You may be unable to frequent those same places. You may have to turn off certain songs and movies.

And when we don’t follow Christ, the cost is too great to bear! The Word tells us so:

This is beyond salvation. Salvation is important for everybody, no doubt about that! Along with salvation, we must be doing the work of the Lord. We become saved because we commit our lives to Him. We cannot serve Christ half-heartedly, we must give Him our whole lives.

Consider the cost of walking your own way, doing your own thing-the cost is too great to bear! What if you gain all the world’s riches but die spiritually in the process? What if you serve on every church committee but fail to do the ONE thing God told you to do? What if all the relationships you are holding on to kills you slowly? We must count the cost!

Counting the cost helps us understand the great profit that comes with living fully and completely for Christ: We gain Him! We are able to call on the Lord! We are able to cry out, Abba, Father! And we get to spend eternity with our Lord.

Fill Me Up!

Do you find yourself on empty? (Check out our post from last week Empty Cup…) If so, we want to encourage you to fill yourself up! We best fill ourselves up by sitting at the feet of the Savior. Emptiness is associated with experiencing a drought. Emptiness can be sadness. Emptiness can mean that you are just unsatisfied. But there is good news, we can find it here:

He will satisfy you! You know how you can eat junk food but still find yourself unsatisfied? Or maybe you can have a simple home cooked meal and be full as a tick? It’s all about the content when it comes to filling yourself up!

We want the Lord! Temporary relationships, meaningless work, toxic friendships will never satisfy! Eating the things of this world won’t fill you up! There is satisfaction in Christ! There is contentment in Christ!

Feeling discontent? Feeling sadness? Feeling dry? Seek the Savior and savor His living water! His Word promises to fill us, never to leave us longing again. Cry out for the Father to fill you up! He will fill you with purpose and direction, He will fill you with love and joy, He will fill you with peace.

This isn’t a cliche, this isn’t a momentary statement, this is truth-because the Father said so! If we are not careful, this world will drain us dry! Oh but we have a Father who will love us back to life! We have a Father that will fill us up with Him!

Let this song minister to you as you seek the Father to fill you up: https://youtu.be/LZzets3JTA4

They that wait…

Food typically taste better when it is heated in the oven. The flavor is preserved. There aren’t those pesky hotspots. The food is crisp. The heat is evenly distributed. But it is the waiting. Ah, the waiting. Our microwave generation selves are not really great fans of waiting. Ah, but the fruit that is present in the waiting is priceless.

And waiting in the Lord? Nothing compares! You may be able to get it done quicker and faster, but the Lord is able to do it RIGHT! Not only does He do it better, there are a few benefits for they that wait on the Lord, scripture tells us so:

They that wait are renewed. They that wait will run and not get weary. They that wait will walk and not get faint. They that wait are able to see the beauty of the Lord. Their patience is strengthened. Their hearts are purified. Their focus is laser sharp.

Will we join those that wait? Will we separate ourselves from the microwave generation and join the slow cooker crowd? Will we wait for the hand of the Lord to show itself? Will we be the ones who trust in the heart of God when we can’t see His hand?

In this seasons of New Year goals and resolutions, wait on the Lord for that weight loss as you strive for a healthier lifestyle. Wait on the Lord as He restores your finances as you budget and save. Wait on the Lord to reveal Himself as you seek Him through intentional fasting and prayer. Don’t give up! Just wait…

They that wait are empowered, encouraged, and emboldened to run on!

Labor and Delivery…

There may be many terms that define this year:

Unsettling

Unstable

Difficult

Challenging

Rough

And the list goes on.

And perhaps the above terms may describe this year for you. No one can negate that, however consider this perspective: what if the Lord was using this time to birth something within you? What if this tough, rough, and challenging year was your labor pains?

Think about childbirth. Labor, for some, is a hard, exhausting process. And for others, while they may have had some contractions, the laboring process wasn’t as difficult. However, all labor require some pain, some discomfort, and blood or sweat or tears.

The labor, once completed, produces this beautiful child. The labor is worth it, wouldn’t one say?

So what if this year were your labor pains? What if this was your time of discomfort, pain, and tears? Will you trust the Father with what’s coming? Your beautiful “child” is on its way! Maybe for some, it will be the birth of a new business. For some, it may be a rebirth for a struggling marriage. For others, it may be the birth of a book, a new career, or simply a new perspective.

We can’t promise that in 2021, the labor will be over. However, because we are in Christ, we can promise you that it’ll be worth it! The pain will produce a blessing. This pandemic may be a defining moment but it will not define you.

We can guarantee that the Lord, our God, is doing a new thing!

Your labor is not in vain. You are about to deliver a more profound faith! You are about to deliver a stronger relationship with the Lord! You are about to give birth to a steadfast walk in the Lord! You are about to birth your purpose, your mission, and your vision!

My friend, labor on just a little while longer! Pace that breath, P.U.S.H, and hold on to the Father’s hand! Cry out and endure just a little while longer. We know this year has been tough, but the Lord is with you. We know that this year has been unstable, but the Lord is our rock, our firm foundation. We know this year has been uncomfortable, just cling to the Holy Spirit who is our Comforter.

What you are about to birth, won’t compare to the pain you’ve experiencing. Just keeping P.U.S.H-ing

Go Tell It On The Mountain…

“Go tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere, Go tell it on the mountain, Our Jesus Christ is born…”

Christmas may be over but this song is still relevant. Believers must tell it on the mountain, the valley, on the side of the street, and everywhere! Why? Because Jesus Christ was born! His birth signals the fulfillment of the Law, His birth led to our salvation, and His birth positions us to have a relationship with the Father.

This charge of “going and telling on the mountain” about the arrival of Christ is much more than a song for December 25th. This song title should point us to the Great Commission:

His birth was just the beginning! He IS the Gospel! He IS the Good News! We must go and tell about Him! We must go, the Word says so! The mountain is a great vantage point, you are high and your voice can echo loudly, but don’t forsake the valley. If someone is in the valley with you, chances are, they need to hear the Good News about Christ.

Our lives, our work ethics, how we love and care for those entrusted to us, and our conduct are all “mountains” we can stand on and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And those mountains can be used to tell the Good News about Christ. Christmas is but a day, His Good News leads to eternity.

So, my friend, go on ahead it on the mountain-over the hills and everywhere-that our Jesus Christ was born, lived, served, died, and rose again for you and me!

Freedom…

There are some fights that repeat themselves over and over again-the battle to remain silent when you want to speak, the struggle not to overindulge on that favorite food, the fight to remain steadfast in prayer. And the list goes on.

However, there are some encounters that you won’t have to fight again. Remember when you conquered that fear of speaking in public? Or perhaps that first flight? Maybe you’ve conquered that fear of roller coasters. Whatever it may be, that first fight was the only fight.

There is freedom in realizing that there are some battles you will not have to engage in again. For those whom are married, your season of first dates are over. For those who are mothers and are done have children, those labor pains are done for you!

Let’s go deeper, there are some enemies, there are some things that go bump in the night that you worry about, that you fear-and the Lord has set you free from experiencing those things again. Never again will you have to encounter that one who hurt you. Never again will you want to hurt yourself because you’ve been healed and made whole. Never again will you have to be a slave to a bottle or pills.

The Word tells us so:

Freedom is found in not fearing. Freedom is found in standing firm. Freedom is found in seeing the salvation of the Lord. Your Egyptians are done for! Egypt represented a place of bondage and slavery for the children of Israel. What represents your Egypt? Make it personal and speak that declaration over your life!

For the addiction you see today, you shall never see again if you stand firm, fear not, and see the salvation of the Lord!

For the low self-esteem you see today, you shall never see again if you stand firm, fear not, and see the salvation of the Lord!

The struggle you have with being all that God has called you to be may be visible today, but if you fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord-you shall never have that struggle again!

It’s time to be free, my friend! Leave those “Egyptians” behind and press onward towards the mark which is in Christ Jesus!

Peace and Blessings
