Liar, Liar…

Fake news was a popular term this year, one can say. Fake news isn’t new-it’s been around since the beginning of time. Satan, who is the father of lies, has been spreading them since the garden of Eden.

“But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis‬ ‭3:4-5‬ ‭

Satan has been spreading fake news since time began, we should not be surprised to see it now. Distortion, fuzzy pictures, and downright falsehoods plague people all of the time. However, just like the serpent whispered to Eve, the devil is trying to whisper lies to us.

Ever heard these before? You aren’t good enough. They are talking about you. You would be better if you lost weight. You would be better if you didn’t feed your kids sugar. You are foolish.

And the lies goes on! Satan is a complete liar and we must cast him back to the pits of Hell where he belongs! Rebuke the lies of the devil! Denounce the father of lies!

This is why we must know the voice of the Lord. This is why it is important to know His truth. This is why we must cling to the Word of God. If not, we will fall victim to fake news. We will subscribe to the lies.

Look at the question the Lord posed to Adam and Eve:

We can take out “naked” and ask ourselves that important question: “who told you that you weren’t good enough?” “who told you that you weren’t smart enough?” “who told you that you weren’t worthy of love?”

That is not of the Lord! Rebuke that liar! Whisper the truth of the Lord over yourself. Dismiss those voices that are not of the Lord. Do not allow Satan to have authority to speak to your spirit! The Shepherd’s sheep, know His voice. This is why it is important to cling to the Word of God.

As you start to hear someone speaking, ask yourself: Who told you that?

Just Believe…

We believe that our cars will get us to and from our destinations.

We believe that the chair we sit in will hold us up.

We believe that our homes will still be standing when we get back to them.

We believe that our loved ones will come back home every evening.

And perhaps we take these things for granted and perhaps we don’t, either way, we just believe. And we have seen each one of the above mentioned items fail us in some shape, form, or fashion. We’ve seen cars not start, chairs break, homes destroyed, and loved ones pass on.

And yet, the One whom have never failed us, we struggle to believe. We struggle to find faith in ALL His promises. We struggle to stand on His Word no matter what we see. We believe the naysayers over the One whose word has power. We believe our eyes over the One who created them.

Will we just believe? No matter what we see, no matter what anyone says, we will simply believe our Father? Our Creator? Our Source? Our Savior? Will you let His Word stand above all others?

Just believe in the One whom is eternal. Just believe in God Your Father. Just believe in the One who saved you, redeemed you, and restored You. Look at His body of work, is it not enough to just believe?

Believing will change the generations behind you. Believing will birth that business, that home, that ministry. Believing will impact your friends, your family, your neighbors. Believing helps you wait for His glorious second coming.

Just believe and let the truth for Abram, be the truth for you:

Wrestling Match…

Then he said, “Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” Genesis 32:26 ESV

Jacob is pretty bold, right? He is straight up wrestling with God, by way of a man. And he says, I won’t let you go until you bless me. Do we have that level of persistence? How hard are we willing to go to be blessed?

Jacob’s boldness should be desired. Some things have to be fought for and pursued vigorously. Sometimes you have to have a wrestling match. Sometimes you have to tell God, you won’t let go until you are blessed, saved, healed and delivered.

Wrestling with God! Pursue Him, walk right up to Him and receive what He’s so ready to give! He desires our BOLD faith! Jacob didn’t let go, you don’t either, sis.

Pursue that dream He’s planted in you. Fight for that relationship that is kingdom focused. Wrestling for that healing. Snatch your kids out of the enemy’s hands, by faith.

You might be tired of fighting, you may be tired of wrestling, but press on. Your victory is on the other side. Your deliverance is on the other side. Your healing is on the other side.

And as you press on, may this ring true for you:

“Then he said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.” Genesis 32:28

The Weight of Words

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” Who has said that before? And now that you are older and wiser, who knows that is not true at all?

Words are designed to have power. God, the designer of every thing good and perfect, which includes this vast Earth, used words to create. Genesis 1:3 tells us that “God said, “Let there be light!” And light began to shine.” Light and life happened because God said so! Scripture also states that there is life and death in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).

So, dear friends, while words may not break bones, words can absolutely break hearts, spirits, and relationships. Ephesians 4:29 stands as an important exhortation:

Let everything you say be good and helpful, even the words you say to yourself. Not only the words you say but the words you think to yourself. Self-destructive thoughts will hinder your progress. Self-defeating words will give room to the enemy to come in and encourage the lies you are speaking over yourself.

A wise man once said “you have what you say”. This can be true for you if you aren’t careful for you. The weight of our words extend beyond the physical. Its truly a spiritual matter. Our faith and words are connected. If we are struggling with the words we say, do we struggle with what the Father says?

Are you a hot mess or are you blessed by the best?

Are you a victim or victor?

Are you broke or are you whole?

Are you sick or are you healed?

Before you speak another word over yourself, filter it through Ephesians 4:29. Is it good and helpful? Are your words worshipping the God of all creation or the god you created?

Words bear weight. Choose wisely.

Who Am I?

An article from the ACT for Youth Center of Excellence argues that the age old question of “Who Am I?” appears for most in adolescence. What a powerful question to consider at a time when hormones are in flux! And when does that important question get answered? At 18? 21? 23? Or does it take a lifetime to figure out who you are?

If we let the world answer that question for us, it will be based off of our socioeconomic status, ethnicity, or income. And while those aforementioned characteristics may have shaped our experiences, they have not formed our identity. We must look to Christ to find out who we are.

Your gender, skin color, and upbringing are indicators of how He has etched you in His likeness and image. Your favorite color, food, and hobbies are indicators of your uniqueness. The origin of your family’s background speaks to versatility of God.

If we proclaim God is our Father, He, alone, has to define who we are. Let’s consider His Word:

You are made in God’s image: Genesis 1:27.

You are a new creation: 2 Corinthians 5:17

You are chosen: 1 Peter 2:9.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made: Psalm 139:14.

You are more than a conqueror: Romans 8:37.

This list is by no means exhaustive, as it is just a small picture of the wonderful, forgiven, being you are! Sisters, plant those seeds into your heart. God did not make a mistake as He was forming you in your mother’s womb. He was well aware of your path as that was already formed in eternity. What better Person to define who we are than the One who created us?

Perhaps the most important answer to the question of who we are can be found here:

You are His child. That is His declared answer to that pressing question. Place your identity in this amazing truth.
