Strategic Positioning…

Positions are a key strategy when engaging in spiritual warfare. We must evaluate our stance. Are we hiding in a cave, hoping not to be seen? Are we hiding behind someone else when we should be the ones standing in the front? Or are we in standing strong in the front, ready to handle what comes our way?

Here’s the thing: the position we take will determine our victory. For the ones hiding in the cave-we will miss the goodness of the Lord because we have chosen to hide. For the one hiding behind someone-another human cannot save you. For the ones in the front-their confidence is not in their ability but in His ability.

We must stand on the position of victory, because we are already victorious:

Position yourself on victory! We don’t have to hope that we win the battle, we have to know we’ve already won because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross! We don’t have to fight for victory, we fight from victory!

We stand on the promises of the Lord, knowing that they will all come to pass. We stand on our faith because we believe in the One we do not see. We stand on the Word of God, knowing that it is the only truth that matters. We position ourselves to be victorious, because we are victorious!

The goodness of the Lord will only be seen from the place of victory. It’s time for us to come out of the cave and from behind people, it’s time for us to stand-knowing that God is able to win every single battle that we will face. He’s already defeated death, there is nothing to hard for Him to handle.

Where are you standing?

Forget Not His Benefits…

Hello Beneficiary,

The world probably thinks you are strange, holding onto, clinging onto-Someone you can’t see. Maybe even you feel strange every once in a while-believing in the promises of the One who you cannot see. The world’s rewards may look tempting but you have the best benefits this world cannot offer. Your inheritance is greater than this world can ever perceive. Beautiful beneficiary: your reward is not here, it awaits you in Heaven.

The benefits were experience in Christ cannot compare to the riches of this world. With God, through Jesus Christ, we have:

Peace. Joy. Love. Hope. Comfort. Protection. Safety. Power. A sound mind. Patience. Self-Control. Gentleness. Security. Wisdom. Knowledge. Freedom. Restoration. Redemption. Salvation. And the list goes on!

May we wear the benefits of Christ. May we exude the benefits of God through Jesus Christ. May our lives exemplify the benefits of Jesus Christ.

We cannot forget the good things the Lord has done for us. The world needs to know about the source of our hope, our faith, and our peace. Think about someone who gains an inheritance-you can usually see what they spend their money on-a new home, becoming debt free, and material possessions.

Beneficiaries: let us demonstrate our benefits! Let us live out our freedom in Christ, our peace in the times of trouble, and our salvation now that Christ has paid the price for our sins.

Our Portion: Freedom

Today is July 4th. For many Americans, this is their Independence Day. This day marks the point in history where the United States became free from British rule. For many, today represents freedom.

Today, many celebrations are marked with fireworks. Matter of fact, as I pen this devotional, I am surrounded by fireworks. Growing up and for many years after, I was afraid of fireworks. While they are beautiful visually, the pop sounds much like gunfire. As a child I grew up in a community filled with violence and because of that, many nights were marked by gunfire. I feared the sound and anything that sounded like it.

As a child, I remember going to see fireworks and crying in the car because of the sound. My mother gave me a blanket to hide under as the sound filled the air. I couldn’t appreciate their beauty because of the sound. This fear continued well into adulthood. But that’s not where the story ends!

As I came to Christ and developed a relationship with Him, the Lord set me free from the irrational fear of the sound of fireworks. He assured me that I was protected and safe in His arms. He promised to never leave nor forsake me. He set me free. And because of that freedom, I enjoy the beauty of fireworks.

Today, a nation may be celebrating its freedom from oppression and rule but we can also celebrate the freedom that we have in Christ! Freedom is our portion and promise. We no longer have to live in fear and bound by the enemy’s stronghold. In Christ, you can be free!

Maybe you are seeking freedom from addictive habits. Maybe you are bound by loneliness. Maybe you fear the sound of fireworks because of a childhood filled with gunfire. Maybe you fear relationships because of your past. Whatever the issue may be, know that freedom is your portion! In Christ, you can be free!

Woman of God, the Son of God sacrificed Himself so that we can be free and appreciate the beauty of God. We have not been given the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Be free! Freedom is YOUR portion and promise! Oppression from the snares and schemes of the enemy ends TODAY! Take your freedom back! Throw away those shackles. We are free!

True freedom is found in Christ.

What’s In Your Cup?

It’s time to examine what’s in our cups. Not the cup that may be sitting in front of you but our spiritual cup, the one that’s constantly being depleted as you serve your family, friends, jobs, and communities. The one that may be sitting on empty if we haven’t taken the time to sit before the Father.

Remember Martha and Mary? (See Luke 10:38-42)

Let’s re-examine their story: Martha’s cup had to be on empty. Think about it? She was in front of Jesus and instead of sitting and soaking in all His glory, she cooked and cleaned. She did everything but enjoyed the presence of Jesus because her cup was filled with preconceived notions about how it is was more important to have a cleaned house than to spend time with the Lord. Had she examined her cup and enjoyed the Lord, she would have everything she needed in order to fulfill her duties of cooking and cleaning.

And let’s consider Mary-with all that had to be done to prepare for the ultimate guest, she chose to sit down and bask in His glory. Mary was preparing herself for the chores that had to be done by sitting at the feet of the Lord. She knew that in order to do what needed to be done, she had to soaking in the One who would give her the strength to do it all.

If we are all honest with ourselves, we probably identify more with Martha than Mary-but Mary was the wiser of the two. She recognized who she was in front of and she took hold of the moment to seek out the Master. Her cup was overflowing because she sought out the Living Water!

What’s in your cup? We took some time on the latest episode of “From Worn to Well” to explore what it takes to fill our cups. Check out this snippet:

You can listen to the full episode here: What’s In Your Cup?

Beloved sister, examine your cup. Is it dry to the bone? Is there a sticky residue of remnants of things that use to be in your cup? Or is it flowing with Living Water? We must take the time to fill ourselves so that we can pour out for the Father. We want our cups to be filled with life-giving, light-bearing, and sweet-tasting contents so that it is helpful to our loved ones and pleasing to the Father.

As we examine our cups, let this be our truth:

Follow the Leader…

Trust exercises include a leader and a follower. The leader conducts a series of movements that the follower must copy. The follower may be nervous in following the leader because they may end up doing silly or embarrassing movements. Nonetheless, the exercises are done to build trust between one another.

If we are willing to follow the movements of another human being-one who is finite and flawed-why are we so apprehensive in following the lead of the Holy Spirit? By design, the Spirit of God is perfect in every way. The Holy Spirit only leads as the Father directs. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter and Counselor. To follow His lead is to be a child of God:

The Holy Spirit teaches. He guides us into all truth. He intercedes for us. He is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Do we know of a better Leader to follow?

We are guided by Pastors, teachers, bosses, friends, and family. Before we follow their lead, let’s be compelled to follow His lead. Let that small voice be the loudest voice of our lives. It’s time for us to let go of that fear that can speak so loudly.

You’ve heard that voice: End that relationship, call that person and forgive them, choose peace, love your enemy, be gentle, start that business, write that book, pray, fast, rejoice-it’s time for us to follow the Leader.

Sisters, may we trust in the Creator enough to follow the lead of His Holy Spirit-He has never failed us yet.

Armored Up: Breastplate of Righteousness…

The breastplate goes over the chest. The chest contains our most vital organs. If someone gets pierced in the lungs, their breathing is affected. If someone gets shot in the heart, their life is affected. The breastplate of righteousness is designed to protect our most vulnerable organ: the heart.

The Word of God tells us just how important the heart is, naturally and supernaturally:

As we engage in spiritual warfare on this battlefield of life, we must ensure that our breastplate of righteousness snug and fit on our chest. The fiery darts of the enemy are subtle and if we aren’t careful, we leave our hearts visible to the enemy. We must protect our most vital organ, for everything we do flows from it.

This is why the armor of God works in conjunction with one another. The helmet protects our mind, the belt keeps us standing strong, the shoes directs our path, the shield and sword empowers us with the word and if our hearts aren’t guarded-the rest of us is left susceptible to the attacks of the enemy.

Mighty warrior of God, protect your heart. This is the source of your very life. Pray over your heart. Etch the Word of God onto the flesh of your heart. Lay it on the altar each and every day. Be mindful of what goes into your ear gates and eye gates. Hold fast to your faith. Cling to the Word of God. Surrender yourself unto the King. Trusting, believing, and clinging are the components of your breastplate. Choosing the Father over the flesh is your breastplate. Going His way instead of your way is your breastplate.

We hope this series helps our fellow sisters in Christ stand strong in the midst of spiritual warfare. We pray that we stand-Armored Up-fighting from the stance of victory!

Mighty woman of God-you are victorious!

War Wounds…

Picture it: It’s 1992, it’s raining outside, and you are single digits year old. You are running around a kitchen table with some neighbor friends, even though your mother told you and your friends to stop a million times. She’s talking, you are playing and then SMACK! You run into the corner of a kitchen wall, there are stars and that’s all you remember.

It’s double digits years later and the wound remains! While this story is truly comical, many times our scars are not. For a long time, this scar was not funny. It’s appearance makes one feel self-conscious and although healed, it’s very visible.

After a while, the scar became easier to love, easier to laugh at, and easier to appreciate. Our wounds can teach us a million lessons. For me, it helped me to realize how fun being a kid was, how the corners on walls are super dangerous, and how disobedience has consequences.

What about your wounds? The c-section scar, the scrap on the knee that is now healed, the scar from an abusive relationship. If nothing else, our wounds should teach us that we are survivors! Our wounds should demonstrate that we can overcome. Our scars should speak of the Healer who is greater than any advancement in modern medicine.

For Thomas, the scars of Jesus taught him to believe. As Jesus reappeared after His death, Thomas wasn’t so sure about the whole process. For Thomas, he needed to touch and see that Jesus was who He said. When he saw and touched the scars of Jesus, he knew:

Woman of God, touch your war wound, and be amazed at the glory of God. Woman of God, touch that c-section scar and marveled at the fact that the Lord was with you in that moment. Sister, touch that healed wound from that abusive ex, and be amazed at the Lord saving you from that relationship. Will you scars help you to believe?

Let’s not be ashamed of our wounds and scars! They tell the story of the goodness of Jesus! They demonstrate how He can make beauty out of ashes. Scars yell freedom for some. Wounds build faith for others. It did for Thomas, let those scars you possess do it for you.

No longer be ashamed of the war wounds you possess, mighty woman of God. Because of those scars, you are alive, you are healed, and you are victorious. Let your scars tell a bleeding, dying and wounded world that the Lord, your God, healed you and saved you.

Mental Wellness…

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Often times, the Lord and Mental Health are discussed as two separate entities. As the One who created us, the Lord and mental health are one in the same! Firstly, we ALL have mental health. Secondly, and most importantly, the Word of God discusses mental health matters and the Lord cares greatly about the state of our mental health.

The Word says so:

Make no mistake about it, we are champions for Jesus and counseling. We also know that the state of our mental health cannot be transformed without Jesus! It is with Jesus that we become well-in mind, body, and spirit. And we understand this truth: “For by wise guidance you can wage your war, And in an abundance of [wise] counselors there is victory and safety.” Proverbs 24:6

On our podcast, “From Worn to Well”, we discuss achieving mental wellness with a clinical psychologist. Check out this snippet:

To hear the entire episode, listen here: Achieving Mental Wellness. Feel free to like, share, and subscribe to our podcast!

Mighty women of God, we no longer have to be ashamed of our mental health. We no longer have to be defined by a diagnosis or defined by people’s preconceived notions about mental health. Our mental health is at the feet of Jesus and with Him, we are on the journey to being well and whole!

Built (Christ) Tough!

Have you ever heard the phrase “Built Ford Tough”? This phrase has typically been subscribed to Ford trucks because…they’re big! They are pretty sturdy and made with steel. Their wheels are big-simply massive.

Traditionally, when people are considered tough, they, too, are described in similar fashion. Think of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He’s massive and for men, he’s probably considered to be the prototype. For women, perhaps it’s someone like Serena Williams-she’s perceived to be a force to be reckoned with.

Supernaturally, however, the Lord does not look at the physical to perceive one’s strength. He doesn’t look at muscles, height, or athletic ability. We should be thankful for that! The Rock and Serena are unique human beings-and so are YOU! When the Lord looks at strength or maturity, let’s consider this verse:

Gentleness will win every time! Let’s strive to be built Christ tough! It’s kindness, patience, and love that demonstrates strength. Think about the world we live in? Do we need another person to yell? No. Do we need another “strong” opinion? Absolutely not. We need gentle responses to wrath. We need soft responses to anger tones. We need love as Satan, author of hate, roams the Earth seeking whom he may devour.

Woman of God, as you engage in this spiritual warfare, be built Christ tough. Be kind. Be gentle. Speak the truth in love. Choose silence. Choose love. Choose to smile instead of frown. Choose to be patient.

Know that the love you show to others, the kindness to show to others, the prayers you pray, the hospitality you show, the choice to be submissive to the Lord and your husband, the care you give to your household-this is what makes you strong! The tears that flow, the joy you show, and the quiet beauty you possess-these are demonstrations of true strength!

Mighty daughter of the King, know that you are built CHRIST tough! And this is stronger than any natural strength you could ever have!

Peace and Blessings

Armored Up: Belt of Truth

Belts are designed to hold up our clothing. Without belts, we would be pretty exposed. In battle, imagine if soldiers were found with loose clothing, they would be exposed, tripped up, and falling all over the place. The level of exposure would get them killed!

The Belt of Truth is also designed up hold us up. Mighty warriors of God, this would be true for us as well. We cannot afford to be exposed, there is an adversary that is seeking whom he may devour.

Without knowing the truth, we would fall for the lies of the enemy. We would be exposed and vulnerable to the strategies and schemes of Satan. We need the truth to keep us focused on the battle ahead and to keep us focused on the Word of God. Without that belt, we would surely perish!

What’s holding you up, woman of God? What’s keeping you grounded and focused? It’s time to put on the Belt of Truth! We are covered by the Word of God! We are kept by His truth! In the world of distorted and false media, the Belt of Truth can hold us up!

As we get dressed for the fight ahead, let’s be sure we have on our belt of truth. We have to study to show ourselves approved, we must pray without ceasing, and we must give thanks in everything!

Mighty woman of God, in this world where people all around us are falling for everything, may we continuously be held and kept by the Belt of Truth.

Press forward, sister, victory awaits!
