Trailblazer…

It’s Black History Month and we are learning about African American trailblazers. Those folks who were the first to do something, those who broke societal ceilings, and those who weathered the racial climate to achieve their goals. One may say that the season of the trailblazer is over, we say, quite the contrary!

Those African American pioneers were making the way for those coming behind them! They may not have even been aware of what they were creating-all they knew is that the job had to be down-and they said yes! So the season of the trailblazer is far from over! There is so much more work to be done.

You are a trailblazer! The generations behind you are waiting for you to make the path, the generations behind you need you to achieve your goal, those behind you need the barriers to be broken so that they can walk through the door. That may be a scary thought, but know that you are not alone-the Father is with you! The Word says so:

Yes, the first stoplight has been created. Open heart surgery has already been done. Integration has already been done. You may not have your name in history books but you may have your name in your family’s story as the first marriage that didn’t end in divorce. You blaze the trail by getting deliverance from that trauma of your past. You make the path for those behind you by saving, budgeting, and investing. You set the trail by become healthy and whole. Your name may not end up in lights but you can be a light in dark places.

Trailblazer, you are making history! By accomplishing the will of the Lord, you can make a difference! By not yielding in your faith, you can turn the generations towards the Lord! By operating in the power of the Holy Spirit, you can light the path that points others towards the Lord!

Be the trailblazer, you are not alone!

I Want It All!

Being a child of God, we are naturally promised His blessings and gifts. What an honor and privilege that is?! We should rejoice in being able to receive God’s best! We want it all, right?!

However, as we grow in relationship with God the Father and Christ the Savior, we recognize that we are not only recipients of God’s promises, we are also burdened with persecution, trials, and tribulations. We experience the impact of weapons as they are formed against us.

Wanting all that God has for you comes with promises and blessings and problems and persecutions. All that He has for you involves trials and triumphs. And sometimes God’s best is best experienced when we have encountered the pang of a weapon that has formed against us.

We are here to tell you, friend, all that God has for you involves trials. All that God has for you involves suffering. All that God has for you involves some suffering. However, take refuge in the fact that He is not here to beat us down and it does not make Him glad to see us suffer, quite the contrary! He knows that trials weaken the flesh but strengthen the spirit. He knows that overcoming obstacles helps us understand the meaning of victory. He knows that with suffering we develop a deeper and more intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit as our Comforter.

Should we still want all He has for us?! Absolutely! We may suffer but He promises to strengthen and restore us! We may experience rejection but He knows that He will confirm us and we will be accepted by Him. We may suffer but we are blessed! He knows that the persecution experienced on Earth cannot begin to compare to the eternal glory that awaits us in Heaven.

Let’s want ALL that God has for us! Even if we have to proclaim it with fear and trembling. No matter the weapon, it won’t prosper. No matter the obstacles, we will more than conquer it. No matter the fire, it will not consume us.

Our Father in glory has a crown of life that awaits us.

Declare and decree…

Every cough and sneeze brings an concerned look or glance. Every other word is COVID 19 or coronavirus or pandemic. Every other statement is about what’s lacking.

People of God, we must be careful about what we say, especially during a time such as this. Our actions and words declare and decree. It’s so easy to get caught up in the times. We, too, have concerns or may be dealing with an consequence associated with this major issue that is going on.

Even so, we must be mindful about what we are declaring and decreeing. The world is not only watching, the world is in need of your light. The world is in need of the hope that never disappoint. And you have the key, you, as followers of Christ, have the answer.

Don’t you know that your words have power?

What are you declaring and decreeing? Believers, with a united faith and prayer, can be the change that this world needs right now. We can declare and decree hope in a time that seems to be focused on hopelessness. We can declare joy in a time of confusion. We can decree prosperity in times that are focused on lack. We can declare truth in a world full of facts.

Instead of running from the next person that coughs, declare healing. Instead of worrying about where to find the next pack of toilet tissue, decree that the next store you step into will have everything that you need. In the times of unstable employment, declare stability. In a time of panic, decree peace.

Declare a thing, and let it be established for you, for those whom you are connected to, and for a world that is searching for the One whom saves.

Faint Not…

“Life aint no crystal stair…” Langston Hughes

It tends to hit us left and right. We can let the adversities of life beat us down or lift us up. The choice is ours. However, we don’t have to wonder about what to do. The Word of God gives us direction for every situation. Let’s consider what the Lord says:

“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” Proverbs 24:10 ESV

Seems like a choice is set before us, we can faint or not faint. “Fainting” can be synonymous with complaining, worrying, and stressing yourself out. According to the Word, fainting means our strength is small. Not with the God we serve!

Sis, we want to encourage you to faint not! Faint not when the struggles of life come up against you! Life must be encountered not in our own strength, but in the strength of our Creator! My friend, you are powered with the Holy Spirit!

Struggles, adversity, and suffering are promised to us as followers of Christ. And because we are children of God, we have been gifted with an adversary, but faint not! The battle has already been won! In Christ, you are victorious! In Christ, you are more than a conqueror. And in Christ, there is nothing small about you!

As you deal with the difficulties of life, be encouraged by this truth…

Life is amazing, complex, and tough, but faint not sis, you got this. Not by your might nor your power but by His Spirit.

Possessing the Victory…

The battle has already been won. Christ, the Victor, stands strong. He has conquered death, Hell, and the grave. No longer do we have to wonder if there is life after death, Christ has answered that question for us.

If Christ possessed the victory, why won’t we? If we are children of the Most High and joint heirs with Christ, then why won’t we attach ourselves to the victory that is in Jesus Christ? He is our Savior, He has saved us! In Him we are redeemed. In Him, we too, have won!

Possessing the victory is a mindset. Its transitioning from surviving to thriving. It’s letting go of stinky thinking. It’s speaking life. It’s seeing with our faith instead of our eyes. It’s acknowledging the victory each and every day as we square up against our enemy.

So as we suit up in our armor (see Ephesians 6:10-18), we no longer have to wonder if we are going to win the battle. We can stand confidently knowing that victory is already ours. The armor is for our protection against our adversary. The armor helps us acknowledge our victor, Jesus Christ. In Him, we live, we move, we have our being, and in Him, we always win.

So possess your victory today! Stand firm in the Lord. Be strong and courageous! Know that everything that comes against you will fall because our victory rests in the Lord (Proverbs 21:31) and it cannot be snatched away.

Arise!

Life has a tendency to knock us down every once in a while. Sometimes its our actions, other times, its just simply the hardships that come along with being in this world. Being a child of God does not exempt us from falling and suffering. Matter of fact, being a child of God is a guarantee of adversity and suffering.

Even with God directly by their side, the children of Israel encountered the same trials. Much of their troubles came from their choices and we are no different. How many times have your choices gotten you in trouble? But thank God for grace and mercy! His redemptive nature is always available to us!

Have you fallen lately? Take heed to the directive found in Isaiah 60:1!

We will all stumble and we will all fall, but the important thing to consider is what will you do after you fall? Will you stay down and defeated? God forbid! The scripture tells us to arise! This scripture comes after the children of Israel sinned against God (check out Isaiah 59). After being chastised by the Lord, He tells them to arise and shine!

My friend, the same applies to YOU! This is not an outdated directive! The Lord knew we are prone to falling and sinning. He knows we have a tendency to fall to the snares of the enemy. And He knows that we are just plain silly and foolish at times.

However, because of His grace, mercy, and unconditional love, we, too, can arise and shine! The light of the world, which is Jesus Christ, has come! The glory of the Lord has risen upon us which is the Holy Spirit!

So sister, arise and shine! “You are the light that shines for the world to see…” (Matthew 5:14 ERV). Shine so that you can point others to Christ! Shine and reflect the glory of the Lord that rests upon you because of your decision to choose Christ. Arise and demonstrate the faithfulness and forgiveness of the Father! Arise and show the world what perseverance and strength looks like. Arise and stand victorious! Shine and illuminate the beauty and vitaliy of God!

Sis, get up and shine!
