I Want It All!

Being a child of God, we are naturally promised His blessings and gifts. What an honor and privilege that is?! We should rejoice in being able to receive God’s best! We want it all, right?!

However, as we grow in relationship with God the Father and Christ the Savior, we recognize that we are not only recipients of God’s promises, we are also burdened with persecution, trials, and tribulations. We experience the impact of weapons as they are formed against us.

Wanting all that God has for you comes with promises and blessings and problems and persecutions. All that He has for you involves trials and triumphs. And sometimes God’s best is best experienced when we have encountered the pang of a weapon that has formed against us.

We are here to tell you, friend, all that God has for you involves trials. All that God has for you involves suffering. All that God has for you involves some suffering. However, take refuge in the fact that He is not here to beat us down and it does not make Him glad to see us suffer, quite the contrary! He knows that trials weaken the flesh but strengthen the spirit. He knows that overcoming obstacles helps us understand the meaning of victory. He knows that with suffering we develop a deeper and more intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit as our Comforter.

Should we still want all He has for us?! Absolutely! We may suffer but He promises to strengthen and restore us! We may experience rejection but He knows that He will confirm us and we will be accepted by Him. We may suffer but we are blessed! He knows that the persecution experienced on Earth cannot begin to compare to the eternal glory that awaits us in Heaven.

Let’s want ALL that God has for us! Even if we have to proclaim it with fear and trembling. No matter the weapon, it won’t prosper. No matter the obstacles, we will more than conquer it. No matter the fire, it will not consume us.

Our Father in glory has a crown of life that awaits us.

Training Ground…

Any form of training can be quite tedious and difficult. When you are new to a position, you feel a multitude of feelings while attending orientation and training: anxiety, excitement, boredom, and the list goes on. While being trained, you are becoming equipped for the assignment ahead. The training is necessary.

This is proven true for the spiritual: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The anointing is needed but you also need to have a training period. If you are not rooted in the Word of God, how can you preach it? If you are unable to connect with children, how can you teach in children’s ministry?

This walk of faith requires equipping. While we may all be the recipient of the prayers of our mothers, fathers, and grandparents, there comes a time when we must train ourselves up. Training requires getting on our knees and crying out to the Lord. Training requires time in the Word. Training requires us to learn how to praise God on the mountaintops and in the valley lows.

The training ground prepares you for the biggest challenge of your life, which is the battle for your soul. Not only does the Lord want you to commit to Him, so does Satan. How will you successfully combat your enemy if you do not study the Word of God which tells you how to defeat? We must value the spiritual training ground.

It is the training for godliness that builds your weapons arsenal. It is the training in the spiritual that equips you for your life’s mission. Continue to pace that floor with prayer. Continue to sharpen your sword by studying the Word of God. Your very life, not the physical body, but your soul, depends on your training ground.

How The War Is Won…

There is a quote, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” Henry Ford

Mr. Ford was on to something.

One may say there is a war waging now, whether you consider the war from the nature perspective, with regards to the protests and the pursuit of racial justice and equality. Or whether you consider the ongoing spiritual battle from the supernatural perspective. The war is waging but with a focused mind and renewed perspective, it can be won.

If you hear of those protesting in streets or in the spirit, they realize that the battle is bigger than them but it doesn’t overwhelm them. They realize that the victory will change the generations to come. Those fighting, in the natural or in the spirit, understand that their enemy will not overpower them. The warriors on the battlefield, naturally or supernaturally recognize that peace and communication are keys to the victory.

This is how the war is won.

Your victory or defeat will always begin in your mind. It is no wonder that the Lord exhorts believers to transform and renew out mind with the Word of God:

With a mind set on victory, you can operate from a place of victory. You are not ruled by your emotions. With a victorious mindset, you are not governed by your feelings. You will be able to develop strategies of victory. You will be able to see the hand of God in your battle and in the war.

Your adversary also knows that with a transformed and renewed mind, you are unstoppable. This is why the attacks frequently begin there. If you think you are nothing, the war is lost. If you believe you are inferior, your enemy becomes bigger. If you are unaware of your identity, the enemy will begin to tell you who you are. Without a renewed and focused mind, anger and fury rule and win.

Soldier, continue to fight with a transformed and renewed mind. Continue to remain focused on the mission. Know that as you wage war against your adversary, it can be won.

Transform and renew your mind-the battle is first won there.

Hidden Figures…

There is a common phrase that encourages folks to be their “authentic self “. Or perhaps you’ve heard about being true to “what” or “who” you are. Failing to do so presents yourself as a fake, phony, or imposter.

It can be nearly impossible to be true to who you are if there are hidden things in your life. These hidden figures have control over you and these hidden figures often times speak to where your devotions or commitments lie.

Sometimes the hidden figure can be a toxic relationship. Other times it could be sexual immorality. Hidden things can be unhealthy habits such as gambling or drug addiction. Hidden figures also can be vanity, social media, or pride.

Whatever you have placed in the dark will come to light and will eventually overpower your identity. As you stand before your enemies or adversary, your hidden figure can destroy your witness. It can be quite difficult to stand tall and be confident in yourself and most importantly in God Almighty when you are weighed down by the hidden figures of your life.

Let’s look to the Word of God for guidance:

Removing the hidden figures from your life isn’t about telling the world your business nor is it telling you to be perfect. Surrendering our hidden things gives the Lord the opportunity to work through us. Casting our hidden things before the Lord gives us the tools needed to defeat our enemies.

Eliminating your hidden figures gives you freedom. It gives place for your light to shine brighter. And it tells the world about your Savior, it gives Him the power! Whatever idols that are trying to take root in you will be destroyed as your surrender your hidden things!

So take the time to purify yourself, your home, your family, and your life. Remove the hidden figures and be free!

Fight.

Fighting can be quite exhausting. All of that energy is exerted and fighting requires the mind and body! Sometimes, you just get down right tired. And sometimes, you just want to give up. However, our charge stands:

This post is not about a physical fight. This is all about the spiritual battle that we must face each day. This is about staring the Devil in his face and declaring that he will lose this battle as he’s already lost the war. This fight is about pressing on. This fight is about tapping into God’s strength and not your own.

This fight is about strengthening your mind with the Word of God to remain sane and focused. This fight is about strengthening your body with the Word of God to be able to withstand the blows of life. This fight is for your family, your friends, and the generations coming after you.

Fight for your ministry, your relationship, and your joy. Fight for your peace. The functions of the enemy is to steal, kill, and destroy. Decide today to submit to the will of the Lord and not the snares of Satan.

You can do this. You can fight. But most importantly, in Christ, YOU WILL WIN!

Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” 1 Corinthians 15:55,57

Fire Power…

“…each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.” 1 Corinthians 3:13

Consider the exhortation of 1 Corinthians and ponder this question:

What power will the fire have on you?

Believers are promised many things, some of those things include fiery trials.

So don’t think it strange! Don’t spend too much time crying and wondering, why you? Why not you?! This is a promise in Christ, we have an adversary and we will experience suffering. If you look past the fire, you can also see the victory!

The fire is useful and add definition to our life. Frustrating? Yes. Needed? Absolutely! Will you buckle or will you stand? Will you give up or will you press on? Will you rebel or will you rejoice?

Make the decision to stand strong, to press on, and to be refined by the struggles of life! Don’t let the fiery trials consume you. Continue to do the work of the Lord. Don’t be defined by depression or anxiety. Don’t let a bad day, month or year define who the Lord is. You determine the power of the fire, don’t let it overpower you!

The fire is hot, the fire is overwhelming, and the fire is necessary. The fire can either consume you or refine you, the choice is yours.

Faint Not…

“Life aint no crystal stair…” Langston Hughes

It tends to hit us left and right. We can let the adversities of life beat us down or lift us up. The choice is ours. However, we don’t have to wonder about what to do. The Word of God gives us direction for every situation. Let’s consider what the Lord says:

“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” Proverbs 24:10 ESV

Seems like a choice is set before us, we can faint or not faint. “Fainting” can be synonymous with complaining, worrying, and stressing yourself out. According to the Word, fainting means our strength is small. Not with the God we serve!

Sis, we want to encourage you to faint not! Faint not when the struggles of life come up against you! Life must be encountered not in our own strength, but in the strength of our Creator! My friend, you are powered with the Holy Spirit!

Struggles, adversity, and suffering are promised to us as followers of Christ. And because we are children of God, we have been gifted with an adversary, but faint not! The battle has already been won! In Christ, you are victorious! In Christ, you are more than a conqueror. And in Christ, there is nothing small about you!

As you deal with the difficulties of life, be encouraged by this truth…

Life is amazing, complex, and tough, but faint not sis, you got this. Not by your might nor your power but by His Spirit.

Abundant Life…

The Bible is filled with many promises, let’s focus on the beauty of John 10:10:

Doesn’t having abundant life just makes you want to shout?! Being a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ is full of life–abundant life, matter of fact! The beauty, majestic, and dominion of our Father, by the way of Jesus Christ, is represented in this truth.

However, this beautiful scripture also reminds us that we have a promise of an adversary. And sometimes we as believers simply stop there. Its evidenced by our willingnesss in allowing the enemy to steal our joy, our willingness in allowing him to destroy our dreams, and our willingness in allowing him to kill life-giving relationships. Whether we realize it or not, we submit to the snares of the enemy.

An abundant life can be achieved when we refuse to submit to the foolishness of the thief of our lives. We have the promise of an abundant life if we are able to press through the antics of the enemy. The promise of Jesus and the abundant life He gives is greater than obstacles the devil can (and will) throw our away.

Refuse to submit to the assignment of the enemy, he is a liar and he is the father of lies. Commit and submit to the assignment of our Lord and Savior. He is the absolute and final truth. Submit to the Victor. Submit to the promise of abundant life!

It is time to experience the full life that’s found in Christ! It is time to experience the full life that’s found in pursuing that dream, fulfilling your purpose, and maintaining life-giving relationships. Abundant life is found in moving from surviving to thriving. Abundant life is actively pursuing peace, wisdom, and joy.

Sisters, enjoy the fullness of life, it is the promise of Christ.
