Training Ground…

Any form of training can be quite tedious and difficult. When you are new to a position, you feel a multitude of feelings while attending orientation and training: anxiety, excitement, boredom, and the list goes on. While being trained, you are becoming equipped for the assignment ahead. The training is necessary.

This is proven true for the spiritual: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The anointing is needed but you also need to have a training period. If you are not rooted in the Word of God, how can you preach it? If you are unable to connect with children, how can you teach in children’s ministry?

This walk of faith requires equipping. While we may all be the recipient of the prayers of our mothers, fathers, and grandparents, there comes a time when we must train ourselves up. Training requires getting on our knees and crying out to the Lord. Training requires time in the Word. Training requires us to learn how to praise God on the mountaintops and in the valley lows.

The training ground prepares you for the biggest challenge of your life, which is the battle for your soul. Not only does the Lord want you to commit to Him, so does Satan. How will you successfully combat your enemy if you do not study the Word of God which tells you how to defeat? We must value the spiritual training ground.

It is the training for godliness that builds your weapons arsenal. It is the training in the spiritual that equips you for your life’s mission. Continue to pace that floor with prayer. Continue to sharpen your sword by studying the Word of God. Your very life, not the physical body, but your soul, depends on your training ground.

The Never-ending Mission…

Ministry is service.

Some of us are in children’s ministry, some serve behind a pulpit, others may lead Bible study or teach in other capacities. Ministry is work. Ministry is never-ending work. The fact of the matter is, you are always a minister of the Gospel.

There is an pandemic occurring and the world is in need of the Healer. You are the conduit with your service.

Consider the exhortation from scripture:

Preaching isn’t just about standing behind a pulpit. Being a minister of the Gospel is all about living out God’s Word. Churches are closed but the mandate still stands. Limitations are in place but the mandate still stands.

We must preach the Word in season and out of season. This is where witty ideas and inventions are birthed. How can you minister even in times such as these? This is your never ending mission. Your service does not bow to any pandemic. You do not retire from your ministry. Your work is not done until you are called to rest and await the return of the Savior.

Be prepared to minister the Gospel at all times. Reprove. Exhort. Rebuke. Technology is available. Your next door neighbor needs the Gospel. There is a child in your sphere of influence that needs your ministry. There is an senior citizen who needs the light within you. Your co-workers needs the hope that never disappoints.

Ministry is service, it is your service. It is your never-ending mission.

Improve to be approved…

We, as women, are always looking for a way to improve ourselves. We connect with the latest fashion, the latest hairstyle, or try out the latest exercise movement or diet. Staying relevant helps to connect us with our community. And trying out the latest fashion, hairstyle, or exercise may prove to be just what we needed to get healthier or become rejuvenated.

We improve to be approved; approved by our spouses for that extra spice or simply ourselves to strengthen our confidence and add an extra pep in our step.

However, let’s consider this from the spiritual perspective? Do we ever seek out to improve to be approved by God?

Let’s make this important caveat: God approves of you already. He loves you exactly as you are. There is absolutely nothing you can do to make Him love you even more than He already does. God’s love is gifted to you as you become His.

Approval carries a different definition when considering our faith. Approval is about bearing the wisdom and discernment to properly handle the word of truth. And improvement, from this perspective, is all about strengthening our knowledge of the word of God:

We improve to be approved as appropriate handlers of God’s word! Your education level and your church attendance has nothing to do with your handling of the word of God. It’s all about what you do AFTER Sunday’s service!

As believers, we must correctly handle and divide the word of truth. How can we be ministers of the Gospel but unable to accurately discern the word of truth? There are lost sheep waiting to hear and learn about God’s word.

So we study. We read. We pray. We fast. We surrender to the power and authority of the Holy Spirit. We humble ourselves. We repent. We receive sound, biblical teaching. We hear the Word. We do the Word.

So strengthen that walk, appropriately season that talk-improve to be approved!

“And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases,” Luke 9:1

This truth for the twelve disciples, exists for you too.

You may feel powerless. Perhaps you believe that you don’t have control over what’s happening in your life. You may feel as if life itself is spiraling out of control. All are tricks of the enemy and lies from the father of lies.

You too, as you gave your life to Christ, have power and authority granted to you by the Holy Spirit which dwells within you. Do not subscribe to the lies of Satan! With the power within you, you can cast out the very demons that are trying to run your life. Satan wants you to be believe that you are powerless and that you are ineffective. He wants you to believe that power was just for the disciples of old, power rests within you too!

This includes you, friend! Your family needs the power that you possess. There are friends that need your power. Your prayers are powerful. Your kind words are powerful. The choices you make are powerful. Your love is powerful. Your peace is powerful.

The power that dwells within you comes from the One who created you! Stand on it. Rest in it. Be defined by it. Your power points to the One whom is All-Powerful.

Imprint this important reminder on your heart: “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.Luke 10:19-20
