The Filling…

It’s time to empty ourselves of ourselves.

We are probably are familiar with the saying: “you can’t pour from an empty cup…”, right? Sometimes the cup isn’t truly empty. Sometimes the cup is full our ourselves: our plans, our desire, and our will. If we are the only contents of our cup, it is truly empty.

Do we leave room for the Lord in our cup? Not only should He be the center, but He must also be the content of our cup:

The love of God through Jesus Christ is what fills our cups. The quote of pouring from an empty cup often charges us to take a nap, get mani/pedi, or get a cup of coffee. None of those things are bad at all-however, it all starts with Christ!

The love that covers a multitude of sins, the love that shed its blood on Calvary, and the love that gave His One and Only Son so that we could be in greater relationship with Him-that is what must first fill our cups.

The filling of Christ’s love for us is what completes us, reconstructs our will to please Him, and molds our desires to satisfy our spirit rather than our flesh-this in our cups will truly change our lives.

From Egypt to Eternity…

Egypt, for the children of Israel, represented a place of comfort, bondage, and complacency. Egypt was dry and full of despair. When enslaved in Egypt, the children of Israel had to endure hard labor, with minimal pay, and survived from the crumbs of the Pharoah’s table.

Does Egypt sound familiar? It should-it’s where we live spiritually until we meet Christ. Without Him we are hopeless, in poverty (spiritually), and in bondage. From a spiritual perspective, Egypt is beautiful on the outside, empty on the inside.

Sisters, we can rejoice because we have a Savior that promises to remove us from our Egypt!

One translation (the Easy To Read version) reminds us that the Lord is the one who saved us! We have transitioned from Egypt to eternity! When we decide to accept the call of the Lord, we crossed over! When the children of Israel decided to heed to the call of the Lord through following Moses, they became etched into the Book of Life!

Like the children of Israel, we made some poor choices on the way that has taken generations to resolve. We have desired to run back to Egypt to be comfortable. We’ve desired go back to the very bondage we were freed from, just like the children of Israel.

Accepting Christ has ushered us until eternity! We can rejoice at the fact that we are no longer fighting for the crumbs of Pharoah’s table. We have a table prepared just for us! We are no longer in a dry land-we now have the promise of a land flowing with milk and honey!

Let’s rejoice-as our soul wonders how we got over, we can proclaim the name of our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior-the One who saved us!

The Harvest…

Believing and sowing go hand in hand. To all the folks with a green thumb-you all plant seeds and expect to harvest a bountiful crop, right? To the students-you all study so that you can pass your exam, right? To all the chefs-you spend hours preparing a meal and expect that it will be tasty, correct?

For the gardeners, bakers, and students-all expect to see a harvest that is relevant to their sowing. So children of God, when we sow in our faith-do we expect to see the movement of God? Believers, when we pray-do we expect to hear the voice of God? Daughters of God, when we cry out “Abba, Father”-do we expect to see God our Father?

Saints, we should be expecting a harvest! The Word of God tells us that we should expect to see when we believe! John 7:38 tells us that we will see rivers of living water flowing from us. John 11:40 tells us that we will see His glory. When we believe, we will be made whole. He is Lord of the Harvest!

Sisters, let’s labor before the Lord. We won’t labor in vain. Our reading, our fasting, and our praying will absolutely yield a bountiful crop! And we know it can be hard in the waiting, we know that we are down right tired of closed doors and “no’s” at every turn-but the harvest is coming!

Why can we count on the harvest? Because we belong to Lord of the Harvest! We shall have living water accessible to us at all times, we will see His glory, and we will be healed and made whole.

Our sister, don’t grow weary in well doing. Don’t stop sowing. Don’t stop seeking. The Father sees you! He hears your cry! He sees the budgeting you are doing for your family, He sees your long nights of crafting that book, He sees the negative balance in your bank account-the harvest is right around the corner!

To the faithful, make room for the harvest!

The Sowing…

Let’s start by saying: there is NOTHING too hard for God, Amen? Amen!

But sowing is not easy work. It takes concentration, focus, and intentionality. Sowing often yields a beautiful creation-when completed with skill and love. This is how the Father worked when He created us-when He created you! He was intentional, He was careful, and He was focused. It says so in the Word:

You as the finished product is just as important as the time and tenderness the Father provides to you as He created you. When sowing, if one detours, if one uses threads that don’t match-it disrupts the creation, the finished product. One doesn’t sow with their eyes close, they are careful and driven.

You, beautiful sister, deserve attention, care, and focus. The Father deemed it so! This is vital to our identity as children of God. The world wants to tell us that our very creation is a “random assignment”. Oh no sister! The Father knew full on well who we were going to be!

He carefully designed the beautiful shape of our faces, our lovely hair, and our unique skin color. He knew every line of our fingerprint, the curve of our fingers, and the careful placement of the freckles on our skin. His intentional design of our ears and nose was not by chance but on purpose.

Sisters, know that the Father knitting you in your mothers womb, matter just as much as His finished product. There is nothing accidental or random about you-we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Our pain, His plan…

Can you imagine the Lord having anything to do with our pain? The lame, the blind, the ongoing issue with blood-all can be used to display the glory of God. Imagine that! Let’s see what the Lord has to say about it:

Let’s start here: suffering is a part of being in this world. Our aches and pains are par for the course. Also, some of our issues are straight consequences of our sin. As children of God, we are absolutely forgiven-hallelujah!-but there are still natural consequences to our sinful actions.

But this does not negate the absolute fact that we can still see the manifestations of God’s amazing work in our lives! The man with the issue of blindness became the very indication that Jesus was here and present. His healing is the Lord’s amazing handiwork! His recovery likely brought someone else to Christ.

Our pains serve as an opportunity to testify about the goodness of God. Listen, we are not oblivious to the fact that pain is tough and troubling, but fret not-the Master has a plan for your pain.

Pain will not win. Pain is not the end. Pain has been defeated, Amen?! Our troubles and trials is an opportunity for Christ to be magnified and glorified. His plan for our life may involve pain-but pain is not our purpose nor it is our final promise!

Our pain is a part of His plan-His plan to show the world that He is Lord, His plan to demonstrate to us that we are more than a conqueror, His plan to show us that we are overcomer, and His plan to prove that we are victorious!

Word of God: Eternal

All that we can see, touch, feel, hear, and taste will all pass away, however, the Word of God will forever remain:

His promises, His story of redemption, the beauty of His restoration, and the truth of His victory is forever etched into time. The Word of God is not empty-it is full. The Word of God does not return to Him void-it accomplishes all of its intended goals.

In a world where things burn up, get stolen, and get destroyed-the Word of God does not. It impacts us forever. It manifests always. It stands the test of time until the end of time. Once etched on your heart, it cannot be erased.

This is good news sisters! The very word that saved our lives burns on forever. It’s not just a good word, it is THE good Word! It’s eternal. It lives. It is active. The Word of our Father endures the test of time!

The firmness of the Word is where we can anchor our hope and place our faith. The Word is forever and eternal, Selah.

Word of God: Separation

Live your best life. It is what it is. Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t. These affirmations are from the world. Love covers a multitude of sins. Love the Lord your God. Love others. It’s better to give than receive. These words are of the Lord. If we listen closely, we are able to hear the Word from the world. The Word of God separates.

The world uses positive mantras and affirmations to strengthen itself, the children of God uses His Word. We are not of the world, therefore, we do not need to use its words and perceptions to encourage ourselves.

Separation is not intended to be divisive nor does it purport that we are better than anyone else. The Word of God is not divisive or encourages boasting in ourselves. However, what the Word of God does is draw us back to the Father.

Mantras and affirmations are not horrible at the core but who do they draw us to-ourselves or the Father? The Word of God reminds us that the Lord our God is our strength and source. His Word separates us from the thoughts and perceptions of the world. His Word reminds us that we are His children.

The Word of God exists to separate life from death. The Word of God exists to separate eagles from chickens. The Word of God exists to separate good fruit from bad fruit. His Word helps us discern the wise from the fools.

The Word of God separates the wisdom of the Lord and the wisdom of the world. The Word of God separates.

Word of God: Abundant

There is a Word for every situation that occurs in our lives. Downtrodden? God has a Word for you. Sick? There’s a Word for that. Lonely? There a scripture for that. The Word of God has a solution for every aspect of the human condition. The Word of God is plentiful and fully details God’s amazing plan for salvation, redemption, and restoration.

His Word is abundant. His Word is readily available for all. He provides unlimited access to His Word. The Word of God has reached many nations and there are more that need to hear His Word. Abundance is God’s promise to His children.

There are many versions of this scripture, the Amplified version uses the word “super abundantly”. Superabundance is found in the Word of God!

We all desire an abundant life, right? We must start with the Word! How can we attain the promises of God without knowing the Word of God? Abundance cannot be found in material possessions, tangible attainment, or in people.

Abundant life can only be found in the One who is life-that is God through Jesus Christ.

Word of God: Authority

Scriptures have been used to justify slavery, to justify belittling women, and used to condemn others. We wonder how the Lord feels about that? Did we even seek Him out? His Word is too powerful to be misused!

We can only imagine that the Lord is not pleased when His Word is mishandled. He knows that the Word is authority and we should know as well. It will do what He has commanded it to do. He is not out to see others enslaved, women demeaned, or people condemned. His Word is life and it has been used improperly.

Let’s remember that His Word is authority, used to cement the the rule and reign of God Almighty.

His Word is firm. His Word is settled. His Word is cemented. His Word is power. His Word is authority. What did God say about the matter? If He said it, it is so. We are to stand on His authority and His alone.

Our situations must bow to the authority of God’s Word. Our enemies are defeated by the authority of God’s Word. Our purposes and plans are found in God’s Word. It is His promises that define our lives. Before we research the world’s perspective, did we seek out the Father’s command?

The Lord’s Words are not empty, meaningless mumblings-they are life shaping, life forming, and life giving. God’s Word is authority.

Word of God: Life

Isn’t it amazing what a kind word can do for your day? Think about the last time someone genuinely complimented you-how did it make you feel? What did it do for your day? Research shows the power of gratitude, the wonder of appreciation, and the art of thankfulness-it has health benefits, affects your productivity, and alleviates sadness.

While science made have just discovered the benefits of a positive word, believers of God through Jesus Christ should know the power of words. The Word of God is life!

Words are living, breathing, and active. Need to feel better? Speak God’s Word over you! Need to be encouraged? Go to the Word! Need to comfort someone? Use the Word of God! Facing a tough situation? Declare and decree the promises of God over your situation.

We must remember the power that is in God’s Word. Maybe the social sciences are just getting the program but we cannot afford to forget that our salvation story starts with the Word of God! We spoke and believed that God did it. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony! The Word of God is life.

It’s not just an positive affirmation. It is not just a positive statement or quote. It is living, breathing, and active.
